We need to talk about Trump's Nazi xenophobia

Anonymous
We always knew he was racist. He pushed Blacks out from his rental apartments in NYC decades ago. But in the past, the dog whistles were more subtle. Now they're full-throated eugenics and Nazi rhetoric. The comparisons to Hitler are now entirely accurate. Hitler took years to move the German people to hatred of Jews and non-whites, through a similar set of circumstances and verbal escalation. This is happening again, right now in America.

We watched 20 Trump rallies. His racist, anti-immigrant messaging is getting darker.

A quote:

" He is no longer just talking about keeping immigrants out of the country, building a wall and banning Muslims from entering the United States. Trump now warns that migrants have already invaded, destroying the country from inside its borders, which he uses as a means to justify a second-term policy agenda that includes building massive detention camps and conducting mass deportations.

...

Vivid imagery, such as telling crowds of rally attendees that migrants will “cut your throat,” are now a staple of Trump’s speeches. He cites cases of U.S. women and girls allegedly murdered by immigrants in the country illegally, even as studies have shown that immigrants are less likely to commit crimes than U.S.-born Americans.

But Trump says they are — because they are inherently worse people. He’s told nearly all-white crowds in the past that they have “good genes,” even before his explicit suggestion this week that non-white immigrants are genetically inferior — when he told conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt that migrants have “bad genes.”

“What is so jarring to me is these are not just Nazi-like statements. These are actual Nazi sentiments,” said Robert Jones, founder of the Public Religion Research Institute, the author of “The Hidden Roots of White Supremacy” and a vocal critic of Trump’s rhetoric. “Hitler used the word vermin and rats multiple times in Mein Kampf to talk about Jews. These are not accidental or coincidental references. We have clear, 20th century historical precedent with this kind of political language, and we see where it leads.” "

This isn't a turn-off to his supporters. This is why they like him.

Or to the pro Israeli crowd.

I think it's important to remember that the Nazi "racial hygiene" theories were exported to Germany from US eugenicists. These ideas have been a part of US culture for a long time and have already been weaponized in numerous ways against Black people.

But Hitler and Mussolini were the ones to deploy it effectively on the campaign trail, all the way up to their nation's highest office.

The UK had Oswald Mosley in the 1930s, but he was ultimately rejected by the electorate.

Today we see Eugenics and Fascism deployed by the GOP candidate, verbatim. This has never happened before.

Yep. And please don't leave out the Native Americans who were forced marched for 1000 miles in the snow without proper shoes and clothing, provided with diseased smallpox blankets, scalped, murdered and more.

His base loves this stuff. They are all onboard because they don't see it happening to them or anyone they love.

Charles Lindbergh begs to differ.

This is what MAGA is premised on. And we have 40% of the voting public fully supporting it.

It is going to happen here, if people don't wake up.

Charles Lindbergh was never a presidential candidate, even though some members of the extreme-right wanted him to run.

Stop muddying the waters, PP. The point here is that this is the first time in modern US history when a Presidential candidate of a major party has openly espoused violent anti-immigrant rhetoric coupled with eugenics theories.

If you equivocate and try to spin this as if this is normal for the United States, you are failing to identify the dangers of this election (maybe that's your goal?). We had slavery and Native American mass murder, a long time ago. We're trying to do better now, right?

We never had a recent Presidential candidate say immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country and that they have bad genes, like Trump did in 2024.

It has happened in the past, but not the recent past

Agreed. Trump wants to destroy American character and culture as we know it. His vision won't even provide happiness for his MAGA supporters - he'll just influence them to being their worst version of their selves and keep increasing their rage and pain. He is a parasite whose only goal is his own personal profit.

As has been explained on this thread, we are talking about modern times. If you're determined to make Trump's case for him, go right ahead and mix everything up.
