Stop. There's very little more authoritarian than mandating vaccines and censoring free speech through social media. I will never forget (or forgive) it.

How did the government censor free speech? Can you give examples?

Sure. Colluded with big tech to get conservative social media accounts shut down. Next?

Oh please. Jim Comer is nothing but a partisan idiot. The Supreme Court three out the lawsuit over these claims because they were so weak.

It’s a good thing when the government is talking to social media about stopping the spread of lies— like the lies about hurricane relief being spread right now.

Of course it is Trump who is spreading them so Comer gets butthurt if anyone point that that out. And now Musk is actively spreading lies in coordination with Trump.

👏Lies👏and 👏misinformation👏are👏protected👏speech👏.

That is why when democrats say Trump told people to inject bleach (which is a lie) or that he colluded with Russian (another lie) they don't get punished by the government.

I love when regressives pick and choose what fact checking is acceptable.

Regressives: "well what Trump said was asking if anybody had considered injecting bleach! He didn't literally tell people to inject bleach! You have to only go by the exact words he said and not under the logical and obvious interpretation. Checkmate liberals, facts and logic literally destroy your arguments!"

Also regressives: "Well when Trump said 15, 16 million immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country what he really meant is just the bad ones. He actually didn't say that, but I know that's what he really meant. Also when he said there were very fine people on both sides of the Charlottesville rally that had actual Nazis on one side what he really meant was very fine people except for the ones explicitly there to support the GOP chanting "Jews will not replace us. You can't possibly take him at his literal words when they make him look bad!"

Real ID is not proof of citizenship. Green Card and other legal visa holders can get Real ID.

It's proof of legal residence and citizenship. Illegals won't have that star. Can't deport anyone who has one

It’s adorable that you think the GOP would have any compunction whatsoever about getting rid of whoever the hell they wanted to get rid of. They also said Roe was settled law, remember?

This is ridiculous. Do you understand that if we attempted to remove all "brown skin" people, it would be an international crisis and probably a crime? First off, there's no receiving nation to deport Americans to. So we'd just be expelling them, not deporting them.

I've done the math on this. You're talking about the US expelling about 85M people. This is the population of all of Germany. It's two Canadas. About 8 Haitis. Even if we wanted to do this, it would be logistically impossible. Where would they all go?

No one wants to do that. This is all coming from the left. No one on the right has even suggested such a thing.

He will put them in encampments. There is precedent in the US.

Yes. He brought up The Alien Enemies Act of 1798 at one of his rallies the other day. I am sure one of his henchmen told him about this act. I am 100% sure he did not know of its existence.

DP. It would be great if you could at least use this information in context, for once. He is talking about using that act to deport ILLEGAL GANG MEMBERS. But, you probably knew that already.

Trump announced "Operation Aurora" during a rally Friday in Colorado and said his administration would use the Alien Enemies Act to remove undocumented immigrants connected to gangs.

“We will send elite squads of ICE, Border Patrol and federal law enforcement officers to arrest and deport every last illegal alien gang member until there is not a single one left in this country,” Trump said.

So who is in an "illegal gang"?
Pretty easy to start accusing people of being gang members once the rhetoric gets ramped up and the guardrails are removed.

lol sure. In Texas right now they will arrest you if you speak Spanish and “seem” illegal. If you speak Spanish you must be illegal.

If there are 10 million illegals you will most likely arrest and detain 18-25 millions. Many times one person in a 5 person family will be illegal. What happens to their property? Surely it must be confiscated. How do you get it? Jump through a bunch of red tape created by a bureaucracy designed to take all your money and property. I would not trust any conservative or republican doing the right thing or being honest.

Just listen to what they say.

It’s really not a concern. President Trump
not only records his supporters, but his opponents as well. So you might as well support him so you don’t get placed on The List. Otherwise if you get picked up it’s on you.

But Hitler and Mussolini were the ones to deploy it effectively on the campaign trail, all the way up to their nation's highest office.

The UK had Oswald Mosley in the 1930s, but he was ultimately rejected by the electorate.

Today we see Eugenics and Fascism deployed by the GOP candidate, verbatim. This has never happened before.

Charles Lindbergh begs to differ.

This is what MAGA is premised on. And we have 40% of the voting public fully supporting it.

Charles Lindbergh was never a presidential candidate, even though some members of the extreme-right wanted him to run.

Stop muddying the waters, PP. The point here is that this is the first time in modern US history when a Presidential candidate of a major party has openly espoused violent anti-immigrant rhetoric coupled with eugenics theories.

If you equivocate and try to spin this as if this is normal for the United States, you are failing to identify the dangers of this election (maybe that's your goal?). We had slavery and Native American mass murder, a long time ago. We're trying to do better now, right?

We never had a recent Presidential candidate say immigrants are poisoning the blood of our country and that they have bad genes, like Trump did in 2024.

Is it normal to have this rapid of demographic change?

Some people learned the lesson of the native Americans.

We aren’t seeing a “rapid demographic change” except in the fevered minds of white nationalists.

We actually saw higher numbers of immigrants coming to this country in the early 20th century when the total US population was 1/4 - 1/5 the size it is now.

That’s when so many of the grandparents of the people complaining about immigrated— the only restrictions on European immigrants were you couldn’t have infectious disease (or be a prostitute).

And what did we get from that rapid demographic change? The greatest period of American prosperity ever.

The issue for the Trumpers is that these immigrants are not white European. I am pretty sure immigration would not be of concern if these new arrivals were Scandinavian. For many, it is just about racism, fear of the unknown, and feeling left out when people are not speaking English.

+1

As evidenced by their support of Trump’s “sh**hole countries” and Muslim bans.

I have zero trust in the Supreme Court. Trumo can easily call any sketchy decision he makes an “official act” and get away with it.

Cute.
You think anyone is going to check your driver’s license? No, my friend, if you don’t look right or sound right or you dissed the wrong person, your butt will be deported.

And do you imagine you can appeal to if a mistake has been made? Trump voters want to burn it down. So there will be no judicial system to protect you.
