Some made up crap |
Yes it is...but why are people responding without even checking? |
No from CNN. Which I know is terrible reporting. “I didn't know what that meant. When you're alone in a wooded area, that's absolutely terrifying, right?") Then, he said, he called to the dog and offered it dog treats -- a strategy, he told a reporter, that he has found effective in getting dog owners to leash their dogs.”-meaning he does that often. People get crazy and territorial with dogs. Dog owners (I am not one -are like this). They behave as a stranger giving candy to a child. She’s still lied and about being threaten. Yes. But he’s provocative. He knows this will get people to act. Confronting people to do the right thing, not litter, don’t smoke, etc is never a good idea. https://www.cnn.com/2020/05/26/opinions/amy-cooper-central-park-ramble-confrontation-filipovic/index.html |
^Indeed. |
Dude, this just a more of the same. C. Cooper has stated from the outset that he carried treats in an attempt to make off leash dog owners, leash their pets. We were all expecting something new. |
+1. Plus Mailmen and UPS and Fedex drivers do the same thing all the time--they toss treats to unleashed dogs. Where are you getting "provoking"? Birds aside, maybe he didn't want to get bitten by her unleashed dog. |
https://nypost.com/2020/05/26/christian-cooper-recounts-amy-cooper-incident-before-video-footage/amp/ Terrible organization too but actually gives back and forth word for word from him. I see how it was misled above but it’s still the same. He said “you’re not going to like what I’m about to do”, I’ll do what I want”. That’s not a person just minding their own business. She was out of line for sure, needs to leash her dog, but again he wasn’t just strolling and someone called police for strolling. |
I’m curious, dont people think she’s paid enough?
Lost her job Lost her dog Practically branded as a dog strangling racist for life She was wrong. Clearly so. But maybe the vengeance mob could chill out ? |
The point of this thread is not to extract payment from her. It's about awareness. Most people can see that the situation with George Floyd was wrong. We need them to see how situations like this are wrong and how they can escalate to someone losing their life. And that white women possess a lot of power, which they can use for good, or they can use it like this woman and potentially get someone killed. It's life or death for us, so no, I'm not going to chill out. Thanks. |
I get that, but don’t threads like this also pile on the hatred and anger? |
I get why you feel this way. But with the dog and the feeding, it’s completely lost on me. I don’t see how it’s the same. It’s not teaching the lesson. I can guarantee you that many not just me will hear his “I’ll do what I want and you’re not going to like it” and just throw this story away. Especially in middle America. And if anything will make them even more upset that this woman is now vilified and pissed off and trying to be made examples of. She was not carrying a gun. And no one made him feed people’s pets in the woods repeatedly. Sooner or later someone was not going to react well. Road rage? I mean that happens all the time. |
I’m not clear what you mean. If you’re suggesting that people only feel angry about racism when it’s spoken or written about — that’s certainly not true for those who experience it. Perhaps you meant something else? |
If middle America can't understand that - he wasn't "feeding peoples' pets in the woods repeatedly," only those people who knew very well they were breaking the law. - "she's not carrying a gun" is a red herring to distract from the real issue, weaponizing race in a call to the police then there's no hope for them. |

This story has been bothering me. First I feel fury over unleashed dogs and the behavior of a. Cooper behavior sounds awful. However, it also seems like C Cooper was spoiling for a fight. Sounds like the guy is sick and tired of it and has developed his own tactics that leave a lot to be desired. For example, saying “you won’t like what I’m going to do” while trying to call the dog away from her, was clearly designed to upset or even frighten. He says as much in his post. I do wonder if this guy would have behaved the same way to another large guy in the park or if A Cooper seemed like a safe enough target for his lesson. Either way he scolds her, she ignores him, he persists, she does too, then the next thing you know he’s making a weird threat that I would definitely think was basically “I’ll give your dog treats to get it to me then steal it”. I mean, again he posts himself that he carried treats for that very reason, basically that dog owners freak out and leash the dog. So as a PP said, it was only a matter of time until someone reacted poorly. So this woman then proceeds to show her true colors and leverage the “scary black man” / while woman power play. Weather frightened or not, she did that, and it’s hard to believe she was that frightened if she was walking toward him at one point (with her dog at hand) and also not running like hell to get away. I think she was outraged that he scolded her and fearful that he was going to dog-nap her dog. Then there is the mob justice and doxxing her, which I don’t like for any reason but here it happened without even acknowledging that maybe — just maybe — this bird watcher was being an asshole and then she saw his asshole and raised it by an awful, racist and dangerous response. Someone else might have just punched him in the face. Countless others no doubt walked or ran away in the past. I’m not sure what anyone had gained through this story though. Then his sister using the term “Karen” which is just divisive - intentionally so.
I can’t find any heroes in this story. |
