SSSA has had these core seniors - half the team and most of them starting - playing now for their fourth year. It will not be some amazing feat if they do - they SHOULD win it all after this long time playing together. Just like was said last year about Potomac.

SSSAS's draw control was negated by Potomac's goalie and SSSAS’s sloppy offense.

SSSAS’s defense was impenetrable and completely negated Potomac’s offense only allowing 3 goals with 2 coming off pretty questionable 8 meters.

As good as the Potomac goalie was she was outshined by SSSAS’s senior goalie who was standing on her head from the 1st minute of the contest.

If SSSAS capitalized on the 1st half possession they were granted from the excellent draw control they got from the Denver commit this game would have been over by the half.

Next time these 2 face each other the game may play out differently, but based on today’s performance Potomac was lucky to leave Alexandria not losing by double digits.

Potomac has talented players, is well coached, and they play hard. The SSSA defense was just really stifling in the game, forced a number of poor angle and contested shots that were easy saves for a good goalie, and they are good and balanced in the draw and offensive phases. Just not Potomac’s day today.

SSSAS played a very wasteful 1st half and still beat Potomac on a day that wasn’t “SSSAS’s day today”.

If SSSAS was more clinical the game would have been over by the half.

Potomacs decent defensive performance in this game was a result of SSSAS’s wasteful attack and some good saves from Potomac’s goalie.

The game was not close and was only competitive because of SSSAS’s inefficiency on offense.

History has a tendency to repeat itself. Sorry, blow hard Saints dads, you will be making excuses again come post-season and trying to figure out what happen when Stone Ridge wins ISL again this year and either STAB or Potomac wins VA states. Champions are crowned in post-season. Regular season success vs cupcake schedule will get you nowhere.

Right, all 900 wins are cupcakes. You have some axe to grind, and keep trolling the same dribble over and over with no facts or backup. Do your research over the many years: they play a lot of games, are in a nationally respected conference, they play ranked opponents every year, always give the publics a shot, and travel to away venues to spread the girls game. But just keep hitting your tired cut and paste response, and troll away, it’s like popcorn entertainment seeing you choke on the success of that SSSA program.

Was this a serious question? You are familiar with graduation and the fact that high school players only stay for 4 years, right? Potomac's strength was the core of seniors in the '25 class last year.

SSSAS also has key players back from injury this season. Balance has shifted significantly.

. . . and will shift significantly again next year.

SSSAS’s 2027s are deeper than Potomacs. 2028s might be even.

When I left, the JV game was at 5-0 to the Saints 1/2 way through the 1st quarter.

SSSAS has almost as many college commits on JV as Potomac has on its entire roster.

I still don’t know what NCS is or means.

Not sure of the full schedule but some of the ones that stand out to me are....

Thursday
Saints at Stab
Stone Ridge v Visi

Friday
Potomac at Collegiate
St Johns at Archbishop Spaulding

Sat
NCS at Saints - everyone is taking NCS and the points.

Yes, Saints should win it all. It will be an embarrassment if they don’t. Sh8t they’ve been practicing for this for 4 years STRAIGHT. Same kids playing.

Next year ought to be interesting. That will be a test of a good program.

Saints 2026 class is insane. No other isl program comes close to the number of D1 commits as saints (playing). Potomac has 3, SR has 2 (? Heard the Princeton commit is out for the season), visi has 4, and Saints has like 15. This is Saints’ year to lose. Period.

Why is the Visi SR game starting at 5:45 (according to the SR website)?

Maybe there's a JV game earlier

SR sent an email to the players saying that due to the heat they were flipping the JV and varsity games. JV games are shorter and the rules allow for more flexibility for water breaks and timing with JV rules.

Instead of championship rings, they can get Fossil watches to mark the feat.
