Just announced: https://www.aboutamazon.com/news/company-news/ceo-andy-jassy-latest-update-on-amazon-return-to-office-manager-team-ratio
Anyone here at HQ2 not happy? |
| Don't like it? Find a new job. |
| It’s their way of having people quit |
+1 Plenty of people lined up who want to work at Amazon. |
+1. Strange not to offer 1 or 2 days a week unless they want people to quit. Bet they offer exceptions for the people they want to keep. |
| Part one of the memo is laying off middle managers, part two is encouraging people with options to quit. This is a layoff without having to announce a layoff |
|
this was announced in july no?
they'll just have an exodus but maybe they dont care. they already have bananas attrition bc it's such a crp place to work. https://www.theverge.com/2022/10/17/23409920/amazon-third-hires-attrition-cost-workforce |
I think tech CEOs are looking at x/twitter and realizing how overstaffed they are |
| Amazon has a bloated headcount. Lean companies don’t care if their people are at their desks as long as they’re performing. |
| It's easy to cry doom and gloom but in practice this will not actually mean "everyone" RTO 5 days a week. My position is officially "at" HQ2 and this will not impact me. When it comes to actual implementation it will still vary based on team/role/manager discretion. My team of 50+ people only has only 8 people living in the DMV area, and no, the other 40+ will not be laid off or expected to move. |
They’re just keeping you comfortable. If you squirm as the guillotine comes down, it could be inhumane. |
| This is how companies are dealing with AI. They need many fewer people. |
Onlyfans has $13 million revenue / employee Tech firms are way over staffed |
| About time, not just for Amazon, but the entire country. RTO has taken a ridiculous amount of time to implement, and finally employers are turning the screw. |
They just did a mass hiring again in my spouses organization. |
