Any tips for starting Zepbound?

I'm planning to start tomorrow. Beyond drinking lots of water and upping my protein intake are there any other tips and tricks? Thanks

Wegovy here. A ton of water, antacids, and pat attention to what foods make you feel like crap. My endo also told me to pay attention to if you really aren’t hungry - you do need to eat something. I put protein powder into fruit smoothies and chia to help me earlier in the day, and dinner has my lean protein. I’ve been terrible at eating lunch for years, so I end up doing one of those, yogurt and fruit, or a salad if I’m organized.

Oh! And stop before you are full. Being overfull on the drugs is the *worst.*

I did have nasty heartburn, so I end up taking more Pepcid than I probably should. All to prevent be from havcing to take the tums

Focus on healthy small meals. Stay away from fried, greasy, heavy foods.

Don’t let yourself not eat - some people get heavy appetite suppression and eat less than 1000 calories a day. You don’t want lean muscle loss so make sure you eat at least your minimum calories - look it up via a TDEE calculator.

I never had GI issues but stay on top of issues like constipation.

+1 I recommend small meals throughout the day and make sure you are eating. When I started, I wasn't hungry, so I didn't eat enough. I started noticing signs of low blood sugar (dizzy, anxious, brain fog), so I adjusted my diet to include more frequent small meals. Good luck. This has been a miracle drug for me.

Do not neglect your fiber intake. I cannot stress this enough.

Use an app and track your intake every day to ensure you get enough of the essentials and run a deficit according to your plan.

Stick with it and if you choose to weigh yourself daily know that your BMI and actual mass are different numbers. Don’t be a slave to the scale.

Do not test discouraged or impatient.

Also, get enough fiber! (Yeah I know I mentioned that twice, guess why!)

Good luck to you! It worked for me, it works for many, and will likely work for you!

I’m on Wegovy. I’ve had to try to eat 5-6 small meals per day with a laser focus on protein and fiber. I now eat breakfast, which I never did before—but now I need to (Greek yogurt or skyr with berries, prunes, nuts and a seed mix of chia, hemp, and flax).

This happened to me and I got really weak. I had to start tracking calories to make sure I was getting enough.

What’s your favorite way to get fiber? At Rex’s on apps to use?

I love using the Lose It! app to track calories and macros.

For fiber, I take a daily gummy plus eat either an apple or nectarine daily. A daily cup of coffee also keeps me regular.

Exercise helps the medicine work better and can make it more effective. I would recommend to think of the medicine as a marathon, not a sprint- I went up in dose every month because I was losing weight on a timeline but at the higher doses I wasn’t eating enough and was very tired and weak because I wasn’t managing it sustainably. My partner has stayed on the lower doses as long as possible and only gone up in dose when their weight loss plateaus. Their quality of life is much better and they can eat enough food/nutrition. They do sleep a lot though- that was a common symptom for both of us- 10 hours of sleep a night if we didn’t set an alarm.

Check out the zepbound subreddit. It can be really helpful. Of note, too, it has a beginners guide and faq section with lots of great tips. Good luck! The drug is amazing, although it will probably take a little while to build up in your system so you may not feel a ton of change immediately.

I find the effects and side effects are stronger on the second or third day after the shot. I threw up a few times on these days especially if I ate something spicy and you need to stop eating at the first sign of fullness. I also got a feeling of my mouth feeling coated after eating anything with a lot of fat, like cheese. These have gone away.

I feel tired from it. I have been on it for seven months but could not get any for two months so I noticed having more energy then. However, I seem to be sleeping mote deeply.

I started at 2.5, went up to 5 and then 7.5. That was too strong for me; i had trouble eating at all. Too extreme. I back down to 5 and plan to stay there. You don't necessarily need to titrate up.

At first I still had sugar cravings but was able to eat one cookie ot a small ice cream and be satisfied. Haven't been able to do that for years. At the moment I have no sugar cravings at all. I don't think about food in the same way. It is miraculous and I feel better and look better than I have in years.

Drink water. I found I didn't want to drink as much water so you may need to force yourself.

I've done it with food. My breakfast includes raspberries or blackberries, two prunes, nuts (right now it's hazelnuts), and a seed mix (chia, hemp, and flax meal). I eat that on yogurt. That starts me out with plenty. Then each other meal I just make sure to get some fiber with it. And an apple each day at some point as a snack.

I’ve been on Wegovy for about 11 weeks and I’m at the 1.0 level. I’ve upped my protein intake but I’m not tracking it at the gram level. I’ve maintained my normal workout schedule. I’ve lost 14 pounds but have plateaued for almost three weeks and I move up to 1.7 next week. My only complaint is fatigue but my son is an internist and he says it’s the #1 issue he’s heard about. I do feel full quicker and when I feel it I stop where before I might clear my plate. My taste for food hasn’t changed.
