2 weeks to firm up

Anonymous
I know this is pathetic, but I've been putting off a regular exercise routine for months-- or all the usual reasons (work, family etc.) But in two weeks, I'm going on vacation to a beach resort and I would like to firm up as much as possible between now and then. I don't need to loose weight--I'm just kind of soft. I'm 50 and weight 140.
Any advice would be very much welcomed!

My advice is to make peace with your body today and go buy flattering pieces. There is no hope of firming up in two weeks.

Oh my dear. It's not physically possible.

Toning means:
1. Losing fat so that your existing muscles are more visible, by eating less and cardio exercise to burn calories.
2. Building more muscle fibers over time by targeted exercise.

At minimum you'd need 3 months.

But what you CAN do is find clothes that flatter your figure and lose a little weight to make you feel better. Purely as a confidence boost.

30 days would be about the minimum to see results….some maybe 3 weeks.

You could probably lose some bloat in two weeks. Drink a lot of water. Do some pushups and squats daily. You won't see results in two weeks but you'll at least feel a little more toned which will give you some confidence.

Follow the advice given above and enjoy your vacation.

Do the pilates video daily and arms video every other day. What can it hurt? Days with both are about a half hour daily, pilates is 20 mins

Enjoy your vacation. At 50 you are invisible anyways.

This. Unless you are single. You could do a drastic diet (1000 cals) and try water fasting if you were serious. But I don't think you'll be able to do it.

Not reading the other responses, just came to tell you what worked for me. 41 and 148 lbs. Lost 3-4 lbs in 2 or 3 weeks with these three things:
1. Committed to walking at least one mile per day
2. Did strength training every day (sit ups, lunges, squats, twists, etc while holding or moving a 15 lb dumbbell.)
3. Cut down on carbs and overall calorie count

It got me exactly where I wanted to be with tone and weight.

Agree fully. Nothing is changing in 2 weeks. Start, but buy a suit or dress you feel good in as you look now.

How tall? If 5'7" or taller, just go water and high protein. If shorter, forget it.

What is water and protein going to do to make someone have more muscle in 2 weeks? I swear half this forum does not know how physiology works.

The only way to firm up is to lose weight. 140 is not a skinny weight unless you sew literally 5'9" or over.

Spray tan. It covers a lot.
