It's a fairly short read with lots of helpful CAPS and Capped Nouns. https://media.washtimes.com/media/misc/2024/07/08/2024-gop-platform-july-7-final.pdf |
OP here with some context. There are two significant departures from standard Republican positions on abortion and same-sex marriage, in response to Trump's requests that the language be softened to attract more voters. "The Republican Party’s current policy platform, unchanged since 2016 after the party skipped the platform process during the pandemic in 2020, says the GOP supports a “human life amendment” to the U.S. Constitution. The proposed changes this year say that the 14th Amendment inherently offers protections for life at conception and that “states are, therefore, free to pass Laws protecting those Rights.” It represents a significant switch for the Republican Party, which has been grappling with how to handle its stance on abortion since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade, pitting social conservatives against figures more worried about the political implications of the party’s position. On same-sex marriage, the Trump-aligned platform committee also approved changes opposed by social conservative in the party. The new proposed platform removes language that says marriage is 'between one man and one woman, and is the foundation for a free society'. It was replaced by language that says the party instead promotes a “culture that values the Sanctity of Marriage, the blessing of childhood, the foundational role of family, and supports working parents.” The new proposed platform does not include mention of 'one man and one woman'." https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/2024-election/trump-pushes-new-gop-platform-softening-partys-positions-abortion-sex-rcna160730 |
So basically a bunch of generic mish-mosh that "both sides" can read as they want.
Sorry, Project2025 is the agenda. That is what the public needs to understand. |
Solid platform. |
This. The GOP can try to deflect and whitewash and gaslight as much as they like but we already know too much. |
It looks unserious, handwavey of the plausible-deniability sort, and about as professional as something a tenth grader would put together. |
10 bucks says a crew of Log Cabin Republicans wrote this. Because they are the only ones who will burn the midnight oil on a holiday week to get this out the door. |
The 2024 Republican Party platform calls for using the Fourteenth Amendment not to protect equal rights for Americans from discriminatory laws, as those who wrote, passed, and ratified the amendment intended. Instead it calls for using the Fourteenth Amendment to protect the rights of fetuses from the time of fertilization. It says that states should start passing laws protecting those rights: so-called fetal personhood laws that have their roots in the 1960s and were considered a fringe idea until about fifteen years ago. Those laws prohibit all abortion, in vitro fertilization (IVF), and several forms of contraception.

More like a 5th grade reading level. I think it was dumbed down for Dear Leader. The big tell is that it employs his use of all-caps and noun caps for emphasis and readability (useful when you have ADHD). The English major in me is cringing. Are future government documents in a Trump Administration going to be peppered with caps and exclamation points?! |
Wait, what? Just an outright lie, but ok.
14. FIGHT FOR AND PROTECT SOCIAL SECURITY AND MEDICARE WITH NO CUTS, INCLUDING NO CHANGES TO THE RETIREMENT AGE" |
Nah, it’s just reflecting scotus rulings on the issue and moving forward. Wise. |
Trump softening his stance on abortion and marriage and trying to distance himself from his own extremism is a sign of desperation and weakness, not savvy and strength. It’s an acknowledgement that they now understand they’ve been embracing a losing politics. No putting lipstick on that pig. |
The neocon Bush-Heritage Foundation committed fraud by attaching Trump's name to their desired policies, many of those policies happen to be "Americans LAST". |
The love and respect democrats show for the average American is simply amazing. Perhaps not everyone in America is an English major? (I was, but woke up and switched to a useful degree, thank goodness.) Imo, the platform is written plainly, so regular Americans can read and understand it. It’s written in Trump’s “voice,” as he is running for president. He is going to run his administration- not an assorted collection of aides and advisors and puppet masters. Go ahead and peer down at Americans that are NOKD, and mock them. It’s definitely a winning strategy. |
There’s no “softening” on abortion policy. The GOP’s interpretation is that the 14th Amendment protects embryos, and that’s a de jure and de facto ban on abortion, IVF, certain forms of contraception and who knows what else they can dream up. |
