Why don't you believe in God?

Me too.

Organized religion is just another corporation. But I do read the Bible. Do I believe it is the ultimate word of God? Not there but do think it provides a lot of groundwork for what Christianity means.

Grew up with super judgemental religious parents. Everything was about impression management. I find that a lot in church going families, it's all about impression management. I stayed in an abusive relationship (well grew up watching one too) because 'religion'. When I left my marriage I literally thought I would be struck down.

I believe in God as in universal life force God. I do not believe in the same God as anyone who calls themselves Christian.

Why do you believe in any god is what I asked? I am not sure what a "universal life force God" is, to be honest, I guess we could start there.

And please accept my sincere sympathies for having to ensure abusive relationships.

I need scientific proof. Give it to me and then I will believe

Science doesn’t have the tools or tests to prove or disprove God. Science can only show you things about the natural world. You are asking for something science is unable to provide, and scientists tell you they can’t provide, ever.

I suspect that pp asking for proof already knew this. Religion, like Santa Claus and fairy tales requires belief and faith without scientific proof

I don’t know anyone who asks for proof of Santa or fairy tales.

Saint Nicholas was a 4th-century Greek Christian bishop of Myra (now Demre) in the region of Lycia in the Roman Empire, today in Turkey. Nicholas was known for his generous gifts to the poor, in particular presenting the three impoverished daughters of a pious Christian with dowries so that they would not have to become prostitutes. He was very religious from an early age and devoted his life entirely to Christianity. In continental Europe (more precisely the Netherlands, Belgium, Austria, the Czech Republic and Germany), he is usually portrayed as a bearded bishop in canonical robes.

A fairy tale, fairytale, wonder tale, magic tale, fairy story or Märchen is an instance of folklore genre that takes the form of a short story.

The Bible is a collection of religious texts or scriptures sacred in Christianity, Judaism, Samaritanism, and many other religions. The Bible is an anthology—a compilation of texts of a variety of forms—originally written in Hebrew, Aramaic, and Koine Greek.

Science is a systematic enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the universe.

Science is a process. Take a look at this process and tell me why, if god exists, he could not be proved with this process?

Science and religion draw on different aspects of human experience. In science, explanations are based on evidence drawn from observing the natural world and conducting experiments. Since these explanations are based on evidence, they can be checked independently by others.

Religious beliefs don’t depend only on empirical evidence. They can also be based on faith and typically involve supernatural forces or entities.

God’s existence is not supported by observations or measurable facts that can scientifically prove he doesn’t exist. That does not mean that everyone needs to believe in him, but everyone has the choice to make for themselves. Science does not prove his existence, but it also cannot disprove him either. That is where faith comes in.

Yes, and the same can be said for fairies and elves. You can choose to believe in them or not.

I find it's not hard to lead a life with morals, ethics, generosity, kindness and decency without relying on faith in an entity which may or may not exist. It just doesn't factor in to my existence.

Who believes in faires and elves? Are there millions of adults worldwide who do? Do you know any elf believers?

As far as I know, only children believe in fairies and elves. Believing in them as you get older is discouraged as being un-cool or unreasonable. Also, fairies and elves don't make any promises about eternal life, as religion does, and have no powerful organizations like churches behind them.

You didn't answer the question, really. If god exists, what part of that process can he not be proved with and why?

And if you can't answer that question, then skip it and answer this one:

How is that any different than if he did not exist?

You can talk about your disbelief/non-belief in God, without disparaging those who do believe in God.

How is that disparaging?

People who believe that god(s) exist believe in the super natural.

Yes, there are millions of people who believe in faries or elves or leprechauns or (non-christian) angels or karma or auras or third eyes or bigfoot or the loch ness monster or that you'll have good luck if you kiss the blarney stone or you need to wash your hands with salt water if you get the evil eye.

People believe all kinds of stuff.

I don't believe in those things. Neither do you.

You just don't believe in one fewer than me.
