Herndon club

3 coaches quit on the boys side in the fall and they all had multiple teams. There could be more than 3 who left those are just the ones I know about.

So to summarize this org since november: no one is practicing indoors, no teams played ANY winter games let alone the paid-for 3-4 winter games (even though the weather was doable in december and january for games) and despite all-club spamming from HYS, no non-relatives felt moved to pay for 3rd graders to go to Spain for spring break.

Not a Herndon parent but FYI there's a Herndon team that has been practicing regularly indoors after my dc's team practice all winter. That would be
a hefty charge to all the parents if not covered by the club.

TD has arranged for certain teams to practice indoors at the Community Center. Maybe ask him which teams get that privilege and which ones are stuck out in the cold. Bet the club is covering those costs as well...

I'm guessing his teams that are going to Spain are getting indoor practices for sure. Maybe that manager who lurks here will admit to it.

Did anyone attend the meeting last night? Is Herndon doing anything different than the other clubs with the new groupings?

No, it was really basic. In practice, they will let kids play on any team they want age-wise if the coach will take them.

FWIW, I saw a Herndon team practicing last night indoor at Dulles Sports Plex. (Not a Herndon parent but I dislike when clubs secretly give advantages to "special" teams.)

I was hoping my dc would get a few weeks of winter training before high school tryouts next week.

Would have been nice to even have one indoor practice a week. Their team has only practiced a few times (Outdoors) since mid-December and only played in one tournament all year. (Supposed to do VDA but it was canceled--which was not Herndon's fault but why only one tournament through the main soccer season of fall for HS age kids who play HS in spring?).

I wonder where NA's teams have been practicing.

Where’s this money coming from to finance a not-so-cheap operation of this caliber? Genuinely curious

Well, to rent one of those places for a copule hours isn't really that much when you divide it by the number of players on the team to pay for it.

Sportsplex is $300/hour. Divided by 12 kids, and half won't pay because they are on scholarship...that's a lot.

If your team only plays in 4 tournaments which is on the low side-- most of them should be in fall for all ages but for sure high school players.

Winter is too risky with weather, its too hot in May, and after tryouts, the team chemistry is shot.

Kids playing on high school teams shouldn't be doing tournaments during the HS season-its overtraining and injury risk. HS coaches are careless with overuse.

FWIW I heard AM was hired by TSJFC. Don't know which team or if he will be there for next year.

Sooooooo how did practice go yesterday with Herndon only having Arrowbrook to practice on? I hear the kids were packed in like sardines. Parents were asked to drop off and pick up to allow parking for coaches.

It was a ridiculous waste of time.

They had 6 u-little and younger teams on the field at once.

Then they put *14* middle-high school ages teams on the field at once. 14 teams of 15-20
Players each.

Does that make sense to anyone? What was the point?
