which will leave Herndon management in a pickle unless they can get permission from the league to only enter boys' teams.

They've been floating on the good graces of ECNL-R for the past 5 years bc they either haven't had any girls teams or very few. If they can't keep the girls teams that they have, when is ECNL-R going to say enough is enough. But they haven't been in compliance for years.

Right, the teams aren’t mixed. They’re all either one club or the other.

Yes, the Sterling teams are functioning as Herndon teams but only paying $1600/player where as the players who signed up to play for Herndon as a Herndon team are paying close to $3K for essentially the same experience. If I'm a Sterling 2012 or Herndon 2011 parent - these would especially be my questions considering how they placed these teams in ECNL-R for this year.

Honestly, the only parents that need to question this are Herndon's, and why the club can't seem to run itself without ripping off their parents. Sterling prices are what they are.

Are those prices what sterling charges on the boys side for their west Va MLS next AD teams?

The Spain trip for 10 year olds and asking families to donate are starting to open people’s eyes.
Some teams are going to Spain while others haven’t had a practice yet this winter

Can’t be much more because anyone who could afford more and has skills is playing somewhere else. Only people left are the ones that can’t afford another club’s prices or aren’t good enough to make those teams

HYS needs those girls from Sterling just to be able to field teams so the price they pay isn’t important, they just need to field teams.

Similar to west VA and the boys. Neither club has enough talented players so they get together and create a decent team but since west va needs help, Sterling kids pay the Sterling price

I'm sure that's very annoying as a Herndon parent. But, there's no advantage on the Sterling side tbo. They aren't getting a different experience so why would they pay a different fee? They have the same coaching they'd have at Sterling. The girls are not playing at ECNL level, have no interest in playing in that league, and are now forced to travel long distances to get slaughtered week after week all while their Sterling coaches treat them like garbage for not cutting it in a league they never wanted to be in or belong in. Herndon basically wouldn't have ECNL without them, so the main advantage is to Herndon's overall boys program and not much else. Without the Sterling girl's teams, Herndon boys would not continue to be in ECNL since Herndon can't seem to maintain their own pool of girls. What no one is considering in Sterling management is that none of the girls wanted this. No one was chasing that dream of ECNL pathways. Sterling will have no girls left at those age groups and Herndon will also lose ECNL because there aren't enough girls even if they blended the age groups between the two clubs. Most of the girls that I know of are not returning. This year has been a shitshow. That being said, I'm pretty sure the rate agreement was for the first year. Haven't heard about this year because we won't be back so I haven't paid attention. If they bump the Sterling rate to what Herndon's rate is, then they really will not have anyone return for next year unless they're on scholarship. It really sucks all around because they are screwing with the girls at a key age when they are headed to high school.

You're acting like their teams are bottom feeders. They're both ranked 8/14 in their division, they're able to hold their own in games.

How does that work? Do kids really travel from Sterling to practice in West Virginia? Are the teams either all Sterling kids or all West VA kids with practices sited accordingly? Where are the home games played? In Sterling or in West VA?

I noticed they hid the spring practice schedule on Playmetrics for all the teams that we could see in other seasons because they didn't like parents realizing that the high school boys did not have the correct amount of practice space and most of the younger teams including NA and JC's had more space on better fields.

I'm curious about this as well. If we can practice and play home games in Sterling and play MLS Next for half the price Herndon is charging. well...that's a tempting switch.

They're Sterling teams playing under West Virginia. They practice 3x a week in Sterling and 1 time a week in Frederick. There is the expectation that you go to all 4 practices. Home games on WV fields, not Sterling fields. My son plays for one of these teams, we've been happy so far with the level of competition and the coaching. The boys experience has been very different from the girls experience with these partnerships, I'm guessing due to the level of skill on the teams.

Oh, and if I remember correctly, the Sterling fees are $1900 ... not $1600.
