I am having a hard time understanding the hate!

Congratulations to your kids being accepted to college! It must be exciting for your kid!

I just don't understand the need for some parents to look down on kids that made a choice that best fits them. Is it so unbelievable that a kid turns down an offer fro UVA, Cornell or Brown to attend a school that our kid likes more/better fit? I may be crazy, I get it.

My kid decided to study overseas this summer to get advanced credits. Loving the classes and rigor while navigating a foreign country that is not English speaking.

All this being said, my kid has enjoyed/excelled in his time in college. Most of DCUM would laugh at the fact that my kid attends a huge state flagship.

Please be nice. Its OK to have different opinions!

No one cares. No need to explain or navel gaze.

I don’t know why people have to be so judgy and mean. I think it comes from insecurities. I have a hard time even talking to other parents these days because there’s so much bragging and one-ups that it’s really hard to just feel proud of your normal kid.

Because some of these parents are neurotic AF.

The parents on this site are crazy. Do people say similar things to you IRL?

Just as many, if not more, hate on places like Uva because someone’s kid DID choose it over a “higher ranked” school.

Relax, no one truly cares, it’s just people trolling or being jealous.

Whew. Thank goodness we finally got a post letting us all know UVA is not elite. It has been at LEAST a few minutes since we last read that.

UVA does not belong in the same group as Cornell or Brown.

Another sneaky UVA booster!

Try being a parent of an athlete especially one who got accepted to a school they couldn’t get into on grades alone.

Thats a hate of white-hot passion of a thousand suns.

Reminder that some of the “parents” posting here are teenagers.

I am not even sure how it really comes up. Larlo is going to U of X next year! Do parents really add (He also got in to Harvard and turned it down just so you know)

I think the better question is why do you need validation after your kid turned down UVA when your kid was fine with his/her choice?
