Hi my kid just graduated undergrad and took the LSAT. I am a lawyer but nearly 30 years since I graduated. She got an interview request from Wash U saying interview before your LSAT comes back. I don't recall this solicitation campaign when I applied to law school but I was lucky to get in anywhere with my GPA and LSAT lol--lucky the law schools didn't get a restraining order in my case.
Is this a thing? She got a lot of solicitations when applying to undergrad but I recall for undergrad it was basically to boost the school's stats. If it helps, her LSAT is unknown but she went to a lower tier Ivy (Dartmouth, Brown, or Cornell). Has near perfect grades (close to 4.0). Assume they asked for her school and GPA when she registered for the LSAT with LSAC. Thoughts? Appreciate the help. |

WUSTL is a great school that suffers a bit from being in St. Louis. They feel as if they can talk with students, they can make a positive impression on students who might not otherwise consider them. They're also ambitious and would like to climb the rankings.

| WashU is not a very good law school... |
| It’s a thing. My kid got hand written notes from Michigan after LSAT scores came in. Then waitlisted. I wouldn’t give it much of a thought. |
It's #16. It's extremely well respected. |
| Wash U Law has been relentless and successful in its efforts to buy its way up the rankings. It overall reputation still lags its ranking though. |
| OP here. Yes depending where else she gets, she would obviously take a Gtown or something. However if it’s GW vs Wash U giving money (good money) I told her take the Wash. |
The most financially successful lawyer I know went to WashU. It is excellent. |
This. A lot of law schools, even some T14s, chase students from highly regarded undergrad programs (ivies/+) based on LSAT registration or scores or both. |
In DC. Not in Chicago or the South or the Midwest or even the West Coast. |
I went to Wash U and enjoyed it. The campus culture is a lot more laid back than many of the T14 schools. |
| WashU is a great law school. At number 16, its ahead of other great law schools such as Vanderbilt, Notre Dame, BC, Emory, etc. The responses about avoiding it because its in St. Louis is just narrow-minded and yes, ignorant. Its on the main campus in a beautiful neighborhood and, after your degree, you can practice anywhere in the country. |
no it's 44 |

Forty years ago, I received lots of solicitations from law schools because of my LSAT score, so it’s not a new thing. I even got a scholarship offer from a sch I hadn’t even applied to.

| op they want your kid's grades for reporting reasons (to usnwr) that is all. This also what happemed to my DS who was offered unsolicited full freight schaolarships for his 36ACT from schools you haven't heard of. the law school wants to lock in that gpa for reporting reasons; nothing else. |
