I say both do it equally with one-major difference: men have physical affairs, while women have emotional affairs.
I’ve seen way too married women regularly flirt with their male co-workers, friends, doctors, passersby, etc., But a man will usually only have a a singular women or two on the side when he decides to be unfaithful. Now, I do think sleeping with someone is significantly worse than an emotional affair, but it is still cheating. |
Your statement has a major logical lapse. Assuming nearly equal numbers of men and women, there are significant numbers of men having emotional affairs and significant numbers of women having physical affairs. Those people having affairs need partners of the opposite sex in most cases. |
Yes. |
Women because it's easier for them. All things being equal, even an average women can get a man to have sex with her. It's the opposite for an average man. |
Must be nice to live in a fantasy world. Having "feelings" for another person is cheating now? Are you serious? I guess your relationships are perfect... |
This is interesting:
https://ifstudies.org/blog/who-cheats-more-the-demographics-of-cheating-in-america#:~:text=also%20means%20infidelity.-,In%20general%2C%20men%20are%20more%20likely%20than%20women%20to%20cheat,gender%20gap%20varies%20by%20age. Basically it says women are more likely to cheat than men from ages 18-29. Then men are more likely. Which makes sense since women basically lose their physical appeal once they hit their 30s whereas men are more likely to age well (beer bellies and bald fellas notwithstanding). |
Studies show they cheat at nearly identical rates. Studies of men and women currently in their 20s show that women are cheating more than men. The popularity of DNA home testing kits are showing women cheat at a higher level than previously believed. Cheating is not a gender issue, it's a personality issue |
Bingo. It’s like the myth that on average, women have fewer sexual partners than men. That’s not how math works. |
But prostitution means some women have a ton of sexual partners, so if you control for that group, men may cheat more on average than women. |
It might be a myth, but not because of math. One woman could be having sex with hundreds of men or vice versa. |
Haven’t you heard of the rule of 3s?
People who cheat are, by definition, liars, so there is no meaningful way to really determine this. There are some social stats available via Google but take those with that information in mind. |
There is no emotional affair it’s called friendship in the older times.
It’s like being pregnant you either are or you are not. |
Math major here. The only way the average woman has fewer partners than the average man is if homosexual men have more partners than homosexual women (which might very well be true - I'm not making a claim either way here). Assuming the total population is X men and X women, every new heterosexual partnership adds 1/X to the average for both men and women. |
No, because to the "cheating" part means that you are married, not single. So a married man can be cheating with a single woman, who wouldn't be cheating. |
Since it takes two to tango, at the most basic level it’s equal. |
