Thank you. My DD in ECNL played 44 competitive games this year (league games plus ECNL Florida showcase and other showcase tournaments). She never played more than 1 game in a day. Please explain how the PP's statement that DA plays twice as many games as ECNL is true. Cost is a separate debate that I frankly don't care about. |
What do you mean Loudoun ECNL doesn't exist. It does. What do you mean they all went to DA? Which age group? |
LOUDOUN ECNL has a team? Who they play? Best player went FCV DA...execpt those who couldn't break in...such as older kids |
So your daughter played 14 league games and 30 tournament/showcase games so far this year. You sure about that? |
Last I checked they were accepted to ECNL and had tryouts. So, not sure what you mean. You go from they all went to DA to best player went to FCV DA. Stop contradicting yourself. Plus, if you know real futbol, which obviously you don't, one player does not make it or break for any team. |
What is futbol? You mean football? Best Loudoun Red kids accepted DA offers. Remainder will play ECNL or other DA. Yes, losing top 6 or 7 kids in a program destroys the team. I know more then you think. |
I swear there are DA/ECNL marketing folks posting information here. DA/ECNL are great options. Arlington and Loudon are great additions to DA/ECNL but DA is still unproven and you still have a few strong non-ECNL/DA teams that will compete with local ECNL teams. ECNL is not going anywhere because it offers a great option for kids who want to play HS ball. |
Says the Loudoun ECNL marketing spokesperson |
HS ball is awful |
What you know is which kids are leaving to go where etc. What you don't know is futbol or as you call it soccer. That is the real problem in America. I am not here to judge which is best whether it is ECNL, DA or club travel soccer. Every player's situation is different. They have their own path. Most will likely play in college whether it is thru DA, ECNL or club travel teams. This is 98% of these kids. 2% or less might make the USA national team. So, what is the realistic end goal here? That is the real question. For most parents, i suspect it is to see their kids play college soccer. So, pick your platform, one is not better than the other at this point. I am happy for those girls who accepted DA offers that left Loudoun. Great for them and their family. However, it is too early to say that DA is better than others. My only hope is that youth soccer improves. |
I followed the Hawks link and fail to see anything mentioning that the club is leaving DA.??? |
Interesting . . . it is gone . . . they had a 4/16 article on their page indicating they were not continuing and saying their top two teams would be playing ECNL |
That's like 10 showcases in a year? ![]() |
Any of the DA clubs leaving are making a decision that is best for their club - like VDA. No club by itself defines the failure or success of the DA. In areas with neighboring DAs, the clubs leaving DA should be prepared to lose significant numbers of players to the DA at the younger age groups especially. |
Maybe they suddenly realized it's got put out there too early? |
