Nobody is changing their vote because some comedian many people have never heard of made a bad joke hours before Trump took the stage.

This isn't about changing votes at this point. Everybody has made their choice and millions have actually already voted. It's getting out the vote.

For the millions and millions and millions that already know Trump is a jackass, this helps seal the deal that they need to get out there and vote about it.

I actually do think the "jokes" about Latinos and Puerto Rico could actually sway votes.

It's easy if those comments are not about you or your home to say "whatever, it was just a joke and Trump didn't actually say it." If those comments are ABOUT you, or about where you grew up or where your family lives, it's not possible to do that.

I think there are Puerto Ricans and Latinos who were planning to vote for Trump for economic reasons who will now change to Harris or not vote because they are too personally offended. Those jokes were really egregious. I think they are enough to sway votes.

Do you know a lot of Hispanic and Latino families? This is being widely talked about but I’m not sure it’s changing votes the way you think. Spanish-speaking humor and jokes in Mexico and in other parts of Latin America can be dark and borderline offensive. There are a lot of Latinos who think mainstream Americans have become too weak and lacking in humor, and are too easily offended. I am just not sure this is the black swan event that a lot of Harris voters want, and I am a Harris voter.

Kamala. But not by a lot in terms of electoral votes and enough for Trump to pull some fraud/shenanigans

Women support each other since when?

I'm a woman and I'm voting trump. Just because she is a woman doesn't mean women have to support her. PP has this all wrong.

why?

Abortion is just not at the top of the list of things that impact a woman's every day life. Most women will never need or want one. The Dems have put all their eggs in the abortion basket, thinking that is the road to victory. That was a terrible mistake. The women that think abortion is a huge issue are already voting Democrat. Abortion isn't pulling over any other voters.

Correction- ( if republicans get their way ) almost all people will be impacted by reproductive healthcare bans in some way during their life times.

Carry on.

I don't think some of these posters are really paying attention to the level of anger out here in voterland. The voters, women and men, have never had a right that stood for almost 50 years stripped away before. They are angry that their daughters and sisters and wives and mothers and aunts and friends and colleagues and neighbors are going to have less fundamental rights in their lives than we had in this country for 50 years. That has never happened before.

No they are not. That's only happening in your little angry liberal bubble.

Exactly!
“Those little ladies need to pipe down and keep sweet. Let the stronger, smarter men be the stewards of their decision making. MAGA men know what’s best for them.”

No, some of us can't even afford groceries. I need that fixed before I have time to worry about something that is most likely never going to impact me or my family

Good luck with that surprise ectopic pregnancy in your mid forties.

Oh and if Trump wins groceries are going to get a lot more expensive.

You want me to stress about something that has a less than 1% chance of happening? Really? That's going to convince me to change my vote?

You don't have any kids who will one day be trying for kids?

So weird that you're willing to give away your children's rights to pay $10 less for a bag of groceries.

PS - when the Trump Tariffs hit next year, that bag of groceries is going to cost $30 more than today. I've already booked marked this thread and set an Outlook reminder so I can bump it up.

PS- treatment for ectopic pregnancy is not an abortion and there are zero laws in any state preventing treatment.

This is flat out false. The primary means of ending an ectopic pregnancy is to use the medication Methotrexate. States like Indiana have banned this as a "medical abortion."

https://www.reuters.com/world/us/state-abortion-bans-prevent-women-getting-essential-medication-2022-07-14/

Per your article, this is purely anecdotal “evidence” that women who need methotrexate for reasons other than abortions can’t get it:

“Dozens of women in states including Texas, Alabama, Georgia, South Carolina, and Tennessee also have had problems getting their methotrexate, either because of issues at pharmacies or because they say their doctors have suspended prescribing the drug, according to social media posts reviewed by Reuters and patient advocacy groups the Global Healthy Living Foundation and the Arthritis Foundation.”

I agree with this, but with one note: Republicans are trying to drag apathetic young men to the polls, and that demographic is more tolerant of offensive comedians than others (generally because the offensive comedians don’t attack the incels). It remains to be seen whether voters offended by Hinchcliffe outweigh possibly energized young male voters.

Young men are literally the least reliable voters at turning out. There's a century of evidence behind this.

And no way in hell are young males more energized to vote than young females in this year's election.

I get why the Trump campaign is leaning hard into the chauvinistic rhetoric - it's their only shot at getting a portion of the young men out. But most young American men will not be voting.
