Maybe so. But all schools should have fully functioning doors, locks and phones correct? That is the baseline if i'm not mistaken. If not from a safety standpoint then at least from a badic maintenamce standpoint correct? This is not a hypothetical. |
And a functioning police force, perhaps? |
You're right, it's not really the easy purchase of assault rifle. It's more the doors... and the locks... and the phones. Ugh, rhose damn doors, locks and phones. If only they had them, this tragedy could have been avoided. Plus they could've used the phones to call the Uvalde cops. Apparently, those guys do NOT mess around. |
So we shouldn't have functioning doors, locks and phones in our schools? |
That would be great. But do we not all agree that functioning doors, locks, and phones are the absolute bare minimum? |
You’re responding to a PP who pointed out that someone could easily do this on a school playground. |
They seem to keep the bad guys in and the police out. So… not sure what the solution is unless we can get rid of guns. |
The reality is we’re all afraid of someone with an AR-15. Asking small police forces to confront a shooter with a military weapon is not fair. They are to blame for the poor response but never should have had this responsibility to begin with. Those weapons should be banned. |
But it didn't. Why? Because the shooter himself would be too exposed. |
Oh, don't worry. Republicans will make certain we do the "absolute bare minimum." p.s. When's the next mass shooting?
|
Are you kidding? That’s literally THEIR JOB. That town is sending 45% of their budget on their cowardly cops. The AR-15 they all were carrying, their bulletproof vests and their shields are not toys, they were purchased to be used in situations like this. An off duty border patrol officer went in with a barber’s shotgun. Give the guns to the parents and get out of the way. |
| The shooter in this situation didn't care about being exposed. He was shooting at people outside the school as well. If he'd seen kids on the playground, or getting on or off the bus, he would have shot them too. He no doubt expected to die. |
I agree - but also why did that have that highly militarized (and presumably trained?) SWAT team?! What an absolute tragedy, and I cannot believe that these people waited outside while the gunman slaughtered children. There is no amount of information or analysis that will ever let me get my mind around that. |
They did not show up. The swat team came from CBP. |
Sounds expensive. Will there be a tax on gun owners to pay for this? |
