Can somebody explain what's so wrong about what this man did? (dogs peeing on his plants)

I bought a house on a corner lot that is heavily trafficked by dog walkers and they seem to think my yard is fair game for whatever their dogs feel like doing. No, one dog peeing on a shrub is not a big deal. But when all the neighborhood dogs come by and pee on that shrub repeatedly, day after day, one might feel the need to deter.

👏 (clapping)

PP and well said! My suburban neighborhood has had a spate of angry emails with Ring doorbell screenshots of scofflaws- neighbors walking their leashed dogs ALL over lawns! Several neighbors (myself included) have cutesy (or not) “no dogs” signs.

And I’m talking owners traipsing through the center of our yards : 25 feet from the sidewalk!

He didn't do anything wrong. I am sick of dog owners acting like it's okay to let your dog pee and poop everywhere.

I am a dog lover, I have 3! I am on his side. It's his property and he can plant whatever he wants. People need to respect other people's property.

Imagine being entitled enough to think you have a right to use other people property however you want.

Dog owners get word and more entitled every passing year.

Good for him I wish those dogs got hurt walking on the spikes the owners deserve it.

Just put up a fence if you don't dogs to pee or poo in your yard.

If it is anything like Fairfax County, if he puts up a fence, assuming it is allowed on a corner lot, those neighbors will be complaining like their world is on fire. I have seen neighbors like these call the cops over nothing, and when the cops arrived, took the (guy in a similar situation's) side. BOY, did that set the neighbors off, further - more false complaints ensued, over nothing. If they harass him enough, I hope he sues them, frankly. A lien on one or more of their houses might be nice.

This guy just landed in the wrong neighborhood. He needs people more like him. I don't think this has anything to do with the bushes, at all. I think this neighborhood is inhospitable about his new, shiny house. I bet they would not feel that way if he had some awkward add ons, maybe like they do.

A lien on the house for what exactly?

Ask your lawyers.

GTFOOH--you are a clown. A lien on their house for the dog peeing on his lawn?

Harassment, fool. Not the dog peeing, but the neighbors reactions to what is happening. Ie: the antagonistic neighbors who think they are flying under the radar, usually under the guise of "respectability", and/or plausible deniability, but very much are not. It may or may not pertain here. There are attorneys that specialize.

Harassment? Please. You must be a lawyer.

So what if I am?

Here's an idea: don't harass people, and you won't get sued.

Yup. Nailed it. The victim is Asian. Though something tells me these type of neighbors are just looking for trouble, itching for a fight, doesn't matter who. If I were him, I would take my money elsewhere, and let the next guy be on their target (there will definitely be a next guy, and those kinds of neighbors will predictably try to claim that the person "doesn't get along with anyone/doesn't like anyone/whatever BS to try to deflect from their bullying).
