It’s become a religion. The mask is the yarmulke. Watching people’s delusions play out is disturbing. |
| Finding something weird is not the same as finding something disturbing. If someone wants to wear a mask while walking alone outside, more power to them. I do find it weird though. |
I do this sometimes when walking my dog because if I pass someone I will red to put it on and it is more of a pain to take it on and off, esp when I am listening to a podcast and have AirPods in the night fall out if I fiddle with my mask. Sometimes I just put it on when I leave my apartment building and then just...keep it on even when walking down a side street. It’s not a big deal, you seem to be giving it more thought than the mask wearer does. Not everything people do involves a risk analysis or value judgment; it might just be a person wearing a mask |
All you anti maskers are now playing the concern troll. You look like a-hats either way. People will continue to wear masks and it harms you in no way at all. Right now people are supposed to be wearing masks in any risky situations. You don't know what risk factors another person has. Get a life. |
The religion of DCUM is complaining about stupid things or things that make *you* feel bad about your bad behavior. You are clearly an ardent practitioner. |
Dense people such as yourself have been the problem in this pandemic. I don't know the outcome so far for these children, but hopefully it will just be mild illness. However, it means it's spreading in the wider community and the concern is who else they will have had contact with, who their adult family members have had contact with, and who they spread it to. Don't be so stupid. |
I don’t think I’m being stupid. I think there is very little risk to school-age children WRT COVID. I think schools should have been fully open and in-person since at least September. I think kids should be allowed to participate in extra-curricular activities. I think ADULTS should make the sacrifices necessary to prevent the spread of COVID to vulnerable people, not the children. I think our society has shown in sharp relief that we do not give a damn about the kids. But I’m dense, so whatever. |
No, you’re sane. History will judge school closures harshly. |
So people who think masks are mildly effective, and worth it indoors, are anti maskers? |
This |
| Just wear your masks and mind your own business! You can't control other people. Can't believe some of you are outraged because you glimpse one person wearing a mask while walking a dog. Also can't believe some of your fan fiction about mean moms trying to dominate the playground by not wearing masks. All of you need to get a grip! |
I am the PP you responded to and I agree that schools should be open and that for MOST kids, COVID will be a mild disease. My kids go to school right now. But you know what? They wear masks the whole time they are there. Masks are a critical piece of the mitigation strategies that are needed to keep schools open. All of the research available now points to mask wearing and other mitigation strategies being critical to the success of keeping schools open and preventing spread in schools. This thread is about wearing masks. The point of mentioning that six kids at my kids school have tested positive in the last few weeks is to indicate that community spread is still happening in our area; therefore, masking in the community is still necessary. The vaccines are great and I think we see the light at the end of the tunnel, but we are not AT the end of the tunnel yet. Your question about what happened to the kids (not sure yet, they just tested positive recently, but I hope and expect they will be okay) seemed like a pointed one that indicated masks were unnecessary, because kids don't get serious disease. I disagree, unvaccinated people, which includes all children, need to keep their masks on when they are in riskier situations, which includes a crowd, perhaps even outside in some circumstances. If you are walking alone and you don't wear one, I don't care, but who are these PPs saying someone is nuts for wearing them at a crowded playground? Especially because OTHER people wearing masks is never going to be harmful to you. People have started to mock and insult people who continue to wear masks outside. Since this behavior is in no way harmful to them, it is a bizarre and immature response that suggests seeing others wearing masks makes them feel bad or guilty. |
No, people who mock other people for wearing masks outside are weird and anti-maskers.
|
Yes, you can't go to a packed playground and then complain about people's mask-wearing behavior at the packed playground. Just go home, or go find a quiet playground. |
|
I tell my child to take her mask off outside. I do not wear a mask outside.
Do you realize how bad it is to be breathing through a dirty mask? You are putting your child at risk for all sorts of lung issues later in life. |
