We left the boys side because too much of an old boys network. Too many Americans on staff (and yes that has more than the literal meaning). |
On the plus side, the BSC U12 boys coaches are all rockstars. We were thinking about other options - just because of the no refund stance seems ridiculous - but all levels at U12 seem solid. |
Unfortunately, Coach Shannon’s impressive background and experiences and attempts to provide more coaching opportunities for women did not translate into success. McLean and MUFC has more success over the same period. When more than a dozen DI commits started driving past Bethesda to play for other clubs, it became clear that Bethesda needed new leadership. But to be honest, if a former ACC coach, World Cup winner and two-time NCAA player of the year can’t succeed at Bethesda then the issue is bigger than her. |
I've found people either love(like?) or hate Eric. From what we saw he seems like a great coach, but I understand those that would disagree. Touching on what others have said there are definitely options on the boys side if you are around the Bethesda area, especially Bethesda and north. We plan to look at Armour, which isn't too far for some around here on the northern side of the beltway. My DS knows a few kids and they seem to love it there, even with all the DA craziness. |
Dave Greene, Bethesda Girls Coach, and 2019 Boys High School National Coach of the Year.
Malia Morris - Graduated 2019, All ACC Freshman Team Jameese Joseph - Graduated 2019, All ACC Freshman Team Julia Dorsey - Graduated 2019, started 18 games for the UNC Tarheels girls program, went to NCAA National Championship. Lacey McCormack - Graduated 2019, University of Virginia, played in 9 games. Virginia ranked #1 in US for the majority of the season. Abby Hanks - Graduated 2019, Clemson University Heather Hinz - Graduated 2019, South Carolina Julianna Lynch - Graduated 2019, West Virginia Five additional players also got D1 scholarships. Please show me another club OTHER than FCV who has generated that kind of talent. Should also mention, half of this team started at an early age with Bethesda. I don't think any other club in the DMV has created such a talented class of soccer players over the years. FCV, MD United, and McLean are the only ones that are close. They actually get more D1 scholarships...I would suggest FCV parents begin to look hard at McLean. That said, all of you keyboard warriors and libtards who don't actually look at statistics and History. Bethesda has weathered the soccer storm since the 1980s and once again, made it through this last one. Good thing we don't live near PDA in New Jersey. Every thread on this forum would be from parents who have kids that didn't make the team, similar to those who don't make the FCV team here... |
did they officially make a statement regarding spring refunds? I thought the current plan/ goal was to try and have a spring season in summer ( even if modified). |
No, they didn’t. That would actually require them communicating with the parents, which is apparently far too hard for them. |
nice receipts ![]() |
Didn't one of the Morris girls bail on Bethesda to join a McLean team that has 20+ kids going DI including more than a half dozen attending recent College Cup finalists.
Just consider that if Bethesda didn't have the drama that makes it famous, the U18/19 team would have a dozen DI commits who instead play for MYS and MUFC. |
I would put the MCLEAN DRAMA SHOW up against Bethesda any day of the week! |
Is there one? The only thing I know is that McLean, FCV and MUFC benefits from Bethesda's past dysfunction. I don't know of many players that have left MYS for Bethesda. Let's hope that the dysfunction is behind Bethesda. |
It’s extremely rare to have a coach that is universally liked/loved. There are also coaches are are universally hated for many reasons such as favoritisms, yellers, God complex, etc. but parents/kids will tolerate it if it means getting ahead.
More often though is this: For every person that hates their coach, there is also a person that will like him/her. There are many famous championship coaches in every professional or college sports that players will either like and hate as well. I don’t know Eric Tin or any BSC’ coaches, but I am sure there are kids/parents that would like them or hate them but they mostly tolerate it because it’s ECNL. |
You know some of her hires were really bad. Just because you are a female does not mean you will not be oppressive and abusive. If Shannon and others had listen to feed back, spend time at practices and acted to remove bad actors they would not have had to make whole sale changes. The lack of leadership and management of coaches cause this. It was past due. |
Lol, dysfunction? Did you see that list from a couple posts ago. I guess if they were functional, half of them would be on the U20 USWNT. |
bullshit. |
