Okay. Thanks

West coast tryouts begin in December 2020, so Spring 2021 is the earliest for soccer league play. A lot will happen over the next 8 months and the landscape will be nothing like it is now. Very short sighted and useless debate going on here.

News flash. You this is the east coast. Virginia south place ECNL season in Fall. Maryland up plays in the Spring

If no sports including youth soccer out west, then none here. People can't see the forest for the trees. Unless you think getting your Mia onto a virtual ECNL team for Fall somehow is something to post and argue about. Makes you guys look insane.

From Soccer America:

ESPN reported that Trump said on the call he believes the NFL season should start on time in September and later added that he hopes fans can return to stadiums by August and September.

"I want fans back in the arenas," Trump said later in a briefing at the White House. "I think it's ... whenever we're ready. As soon as we can, obviously. And the fans want to be back, too. They want to see basketball and baseball and football and hockey. They want to see their sports. They want to go out onto the golf courses and breathe nice, clean, beautiful fresh air."

Asked for an exact date when he anticipates fans returning to stadiums, parks and arenas around the country, Trump responded, "No, I can't tell you a date, but I think it's going to be sooner rather than later."

Trump's remarks were immediately dismissed by a response from California governor Gavin Newsom, whose state currently features five MLB teams, four NBA teams three NFL teams, three NHL teams and three MLS teams.

"I'm not anticipating that happening in this state." said of a late summer return of packed stadiums. "“We’ve all seen the headlines in the last couple days in Asia where they were opening up certain businesses and now they’re starting to roll back those openings because they’re starting to see some spread and there’s a boomerang. One has to be very cautious here, one has to be careful not to over-promise.”

Newsom said he is often asked by friends he has in sports when he expects they will come back.

"I said, 'I would move very cautiously in that expectation," Newsom added. "So look, I'm not here to second-guess anybody, but I am here to say this, our decision on that basis, at least here in the state of California, will be determined by the facts, will be determined by the health experts, will be determined by our capacity to meet this moment, bend the curve and have the appropriate community surveillance and testing to confidently determine whether that's appropriate. And right now I'm just focused on the immediate, but that's not something I anticipate happening in the next few months."

Before it is safe for fans to return to the stadiums, it must be safe for players to play and before that safe for them to practice. Adding anywhere from 4-6 weeks before a league can start, in the case of the NFL, or resume, in the case of MLS.

But when that can happen might be a long way off, whether it's an NFL team with a 90-player preseason roster or MLS team with 30-player active roster.

Dr. Allen Sills, the NFL’s chief medical officer, said widespread testing would have to be available before camps could even open.

“As long as we’re still in a place where when a single individual tests positive for the virus that you have to quarantine every single person who was in contact with them in any shape, form or fashion, then I don’t think you can begin to think about reopening a team sport,” Sills said in an interview with NFL.com. “Because we’re going to have positive cases for a very long time.”

So let's chat in November/December about which Mclean ECNL players will be displaced. No one will be on ANY teams then, there will have been refunds, and there will be one big new tryout for everyone interested come 2021. Give me a break.

As soon as teams are allowed to get back outside, they will be open to looking at new players. Without a doubt

Again hold on to your hope that your precious daughter will be able just to walk on, I’m sure she’s not that good but good luck to you! You will need it.

You have no idea what's coming. Best of luck!

This make you sound like a scared parent with your back against the wall. Just go to whatever tryouts you want and shut up.

I'm basically illiterate in Math and its not that hard to figure this out.

There are approximately 270 DA girls is NOVA that are going to hit free agency (U14 - U18/19). (18 man roster x 5 teams per club is 90). (90 x 3 DA clubs = 270)
There are approximately 360 ECNL roster spots in NOVA. (U14 - U18/19) (18 man roster x 5 teams per club is 90). (90 x4 ECNL clubs = 360)

These are approximates.....so lets examine a charitable scenario.

Let say, 25 percent of Metro kids break into existing ECNL rosters. That's 22 kids out of 90
Lets say 70 percent of FCV kids break into ECNL rosters: That's 63 kids out of 90
Lets day 50 percent of Arlington kids break into existing ECNL rosters: That's 55 kids out of 90

Grand total: 140 kids able to break into existing rosters out of 270.

That's 51 percent total.

Let break the 140 kids down evenly between the 5 age groups.

There will be 28 DA kids per age group breaking into existing ECNL rosters.

There are currently 4 ECNL teams in NOVA: That's 7 DA kids per team if spread out evenly (which it wont be. Some teams will be effected more than others).

That means 33 percent of the existing ECNL roster will be replaced with DA kids.

That means 67 percent of ECNL rosters stay as is.

Loudoun and Mclean will see the most pressure to absorb.

Whatever helps you sleep better, my friend. As I said, best of luck my friend.

The projection is strong in that one. Seems as though he’s trying to comfort himself with “only” a 33% kill rate while people are hiding in their bedrooms for months over a real virus to avoid a 5% real life kill rate to keep it down to 1-2%.

Math illiterate indeed.

This is not a projection, this is you projecting. While your arbitrary math holds up, you’re formula is unscientific from head to toe. Personally, I would start by putting more than 18 on a roster. Then, I would stop because the amount of variables will be incalculable, especially for you, who started by putting 18 as the baseline roster number.

New rumor. If and when youth sports resume, no parents will be allloed to be involved due to a long existing virus knows as, “vicariously”. This virus results in obsessive sideline behavior and rampant gossip centered around low probability outcomes for parents’ children. Infection rate for player’s parents is close to 95% with a recovery rate of only 5%. Research does show however that by isolating parent from player in any soccer settings results in recovery rates of near 100%.

You all are on here arguing over kids will replace what players on what team. Why? It really doesn’t matter. Calm down make sure your kid is still moving and working on her craft so when she does hit the field she is ready to fight for whatever spot she is destined for. Coming on here fighting about how many spots are going to be taken by FCV or Arlington girls doesn’t change the fact that your kid will need to produce. How do you do that? Practice, work for it everyday. This is a great opportunity to work on the weaknesses she has. Don’t be mistaken clubs don’t carry any type of allegiance they will take the best player, period! They will field the best player, period! When clubs open up hopefully by June sometime, they will do so by practicing first, don’t think for one minute they will stay shut because they as well need to recover profit. It may look like four practices a week only working on technical and agility, keeping kids far apart but kids have to play and clubs have to profit. Bottom line is no elite player is worried about their spot because those are the kids that are working daily and for the most part those parents aren’t on here throwing tantrums and trying to figure out where their child is going to fit in all of this. They know based on their work ethic and what they’re doing when no one’s watching. I feel so bad for all these kids, but now is not the time to freak out now is the time to focus and get to work to earn that spot.

The folks freaking out are those whose kids are watching tv and letting the training apps run to make it look like they are working. Cream always rises!

Yep! When they hit the field you will 100% be able to tell who was really working for 2-3 hours a day

When I see clubs post some of the app numbers that show 20+ hours in a week, I smell BS. My kid trains 3 + hours a day, but not just the soccer app.

The coaches know who’s truly working and if they don’t it’s going to be seen right when the kids get back. The app doesn’t matter.

If it bothers your kid and they are doing work have her document that. The app is just a Guide if your child is doing three hours a day still have your child document those hours in the app.

She is. The entire team has to submit training logs weekly.
