Why? I haven’t heard of long lines of people wanting to be tested.

I have had close, consistent contact with somebody who recently travelled to the Bay Area and came back with a respiratory illness, I have a fever of 100, I am coughing up a storm, I am immunocompromised. But I’m not going to go get tested because I know they won’t do it, they don’t have enough test kits and I’m not having major breathing problems. I’m sure there are lots of people out there just like me. Just FYI.

You really should get tested!

My doctor wouldn’t recommend me. He just told me to stay home.

I'm starting to think that some state governments have told doctors to stand down.

He somehow had to get from A to B. He didn't walk. Plane/airport

Ethiopian as continued regularly flights into China during the outbreak despite public calls to end it. Ethiopia is a major air hub on the African continent and serves as a link between China and other countries in Africa. Like Egypt, I suspect the virus is widespread. They are either unaware or don’t want to be aware.

It’s so hard to get tested, I wonder why they tested the spotslvania lady.

Or call your local public health department. I think we can all agree on how important it is to diagnose and track these things, so public health, etc. can plan for the current scale. We don't want to turn into another Italy.

Plus on a side bar, I an concerned about other people in the US that traveled Ethiopia or meet people who have traveled to Ethiopia. They have a ton of business ties in Ethiopia with the Chinese. Flights to and from China were not canceled so far. WHO were putting them at top 13 highest risk country in February even before it blew up in the US. So Ethiopia's published coronavirus numbers of zero cases per the BBC look pretty suspect to me. I don't know if their government is not testing enough or what.

I never knew so many people went on these Nile River Cruises.

River cruises are very popular with a certain subset of retired people with disposable income. My parents go on two a year. The river cruises are preferred because they’re smaller boats, generally, with less time “at sea” and more time/stops in cities of interest. Luckily, my parents, who are in higher risk categories due to their age and health, have not been on a river cruise within the last four months and didn’t have their next one booked. Now I just have to convince them to avoid church and their social society gatherings for the next few months at least.
