At any rate, the person who took the video, the person who tased, and the person(s) who restrained should all be expelled from FCPS and criminally charged. Bystanders should be assessed on a case by case basis.

There should have been communication from the school to all students and parents the day in happened. I do not trust the school to handle this situation with a focus on protecting the victim.

Event occurred last Thursday. No school Monday and Tuesday. Student reported to school Wednesday. School parents notified Wednesday.

The school notified parents AFTER a news crew showed up on their doorstep.

THIS. FCPS in a nutshell. Anyone else get the actual survey "How Safe Do You Feel at FCPS" this year? Someone's trying to cover their tracks for something.

I’m not understanding your post. Do rules allow punishment for attacking another student with a taser? What do you think? And what rehabilitation do you suggest? At the very least, the victim should not have to fear for his safety at the hands of these kids. They should be expelled and sent to another school, or first juvie.

great. they can end up in someone else's school and do the same type of cr*p

Somewhere between expulsion and “let’s talk it out” probably lies the right disciplinary response, at least for first-time offenders.

But it certainly looks like a case of assault on a child who emphatically did not want to be assaulted.

No. This is malicious and extremely traumatizing to the person who was attacked and powerless.... and made 1000 times worse by the fact that the video was publicized and his powerlessness was seen by so many.

If this isn't a case for expulsion, I don't know what is. This victim could have been seriously injured or killed -- electricity can stop a heart. This is no joke.

I hope heads roll (figuratively).

THIS is what FCPS does not understand. Two peers in the same grade aren't always "friends". One may be continually trying to get away from the other one, to no avail. Then, the parents step in, trying to point fingers, and it escalates. (As a result) When (not if) an assault happens, THEN FCPS tries to downplay it? WTH?

OF COURSE the parent went to the news. What did FCPS expect?

I believe the main culprit is Navy. Punk

I heard that the 1st assailant was a Mosby kid, not sure about the kids that held the victim or the 2nd assailant. My kid told me all of the names, tho.

horrifying, disturbing, terrifying.

So glad that News 4 isn’t letting this die. They had a piece tonight, again, and last night. I hope they keep at this story until there is actual justice (not restorative justice).

The parents should push this all the way through the legal system - both criminal and civil.

A couple of thoughts:

1) a stun gun is not lethal (unless there are underlying medical issues. So, it is not attempted murder.

2) this kind of behavior has been occurring for at least 40 years in FCPS schools to the kids who are "different". (40 years ago, I got a "Dirty Swirly" after gym class in a neighboring FCPS school; 20 kids were involved in the assault. Gym teacher did not care. school just moved me to another gym class. I still have nightmares about it. Police woere called but nothing happened.

3) The penalty for this (in criminal court) is suprisingly light for a first offense.

4) We do not know what the school is doing as punishments are usually private.

Actually, va law is clear. Stun guns are forbidden on school grounds, it’s a misdemeanor offense to bring one to school. I imagine it’s felony assault to actually use one on a person. If not, I foresee lots of stun gunning not just in FCPS but in the state. Why not?! I can be a bully, stun another, then my friends can hold him or her down, stun them again and none of us will get arrested?! Wonderful!

No. These losers will be arrested. If not, it’s a precedent for others and no arrests could be made.

FCPS and FCPD are being watched on this one by those in the legal profession.

With all the video evidence, why haven’t they been arrested yet? I guess we won’t hear it due to their age? Someone who knows, please tell us if the assaulters are back at school today. And please encourage your kids to keep an eye out for anyone who might be bullied. Don’t turn a blind eye to it. Even if the admin in FCPS won’t do anything, students and parents can and must do better.

My DD saw only the victim yesterday. But she has a class with him-not the others.

I know the names of 2 of the thugs and the victim. I’m so tempted to share the names of the thugs! Or at least the community name of where these perps live. But...I won’t.

Kid said that a student who witnessed this assault reported it LAST week to a trusted adult at the school.

Typical FCPS fashion not a damn thing was done.

Mom (or someone close to) of victim sent video to news 4.

Thankful that news 4 actually followed through!"

YES! This mom did exactly what more moms need to do! Well done!

Good for that first kid. I want to know who he reported it to and what was done immediately. It seems like admin just peaced out for their four day weekend without doing a damn thing.
