This is not a big deal and I'm always against siblings just coming. If you have an edible favor, just buy an extra box of cookies. YOU care that they are matching and "tasty" and special cookies, but kids won't. |
Unfortunately people are stupid and entitled. You need to spell it out on the invitation. It takes like 10 seconds, which would have been a lot easier than all the hand wringing that OP is doing now. |
Some people bring siblings b/c the don't have child care, can't afford child care, or it's just inconvenient to leave children elsewhere. People don't intentionally trying to freeload off kids birthday party. |
+1. I would just buy something edible that fits the theme and hand out the favors yourself to the children, giving the custom ones to the friends. |
Seriously. How many times have we had threads on uninvited siblings coming. OP, this is on you. You did not put no siblings in your invite and now you have siblings coming. Be nice and provide the cookies to all the kids who have RSVPd Now if someone shows up randomly on the day of party, I wouldn't feel obliged to provide any favor. |
Sure. If you say so. And I bet Warren Buffet is poor too since he uses coupons ![]() |
This. OP, put the custom and non custom cookies in bags that you cannot see through. Put names on the bags with the custom cookies and no name for the others and arrange them separately next to each other. If the kids do notice their cookies are different, let the rude parents deal with the crying and fighting in the car. |
I for one really want to know more about the custom cookies! Do tell OP- and then maybe we could suggest a good surrogate. |
I think the party must be for very young guests where parents are staying. This does not sound like a drop off party.
I have 3 kids but when I only had 1-2, they were many family parties back then. |
I just had custom cookies made for my dh’s 40th Birthday party. They were sugar cookies in the shape of his favorite team. I had helmets. They cost about $5 per cookie. |
yes, I spent a small fortune on custom cookies. The siblings will DEFINITELY take/want a cookie |
This. You have your solution OP. |
Yup. |
We have extra favors, not only for siblings who come, but siblings who are at home. I find it so sweet when a child asks for extras for their brother or sister who did not come to the party. Also, I am not poor or poorly raised so extra food and extra favors is no hardship for us. |
