Someone who speaks fluent English but is either not a native speaker or is older, based on the word choice.

The ACDC relies on a bunch of wealthy aging hippies, mostly based in N Arlington. On the local level, they talk liberal (ie, on national issues) but vote/legislate like the rich suburbanites that they are. They give poor people housing, so long as it is far, far away from where they live. They support "car-free" living, so long as no one upzones their single family neighborhoods. (They are fine with upzoning around Columbia Pike though.) They don't live their ideals. There are exceptions for sure, but that is the majority of folks who runs that show. They don't know many latinos and certainly don't live near them. So when one of them shows up at their meetings and is willing to run for office to help cover the ACDC hypocrisy, they are all in. Now, if Cristina actually votes to start county wide busing to HS, the ACDC will turn on her in a hot minute. So it will be interesting to watch her dance around these issues.

I am no fan of the politics surrounding SB and ACDC's role in bringing Cristina to the forefront or any of it. I don't think she's particularly qualified for the SB, either. However, if she actually touts preferred choice admissions policies and economic integration, I'll vote for her as my first choice just to shake things up. Because it would, indeed, be interesting if she really does espouse those viewpoints and ACDC didn't realize that.

An interesting twist that I can support! I’ll vote for Cristina, but only if she totally screws the party leaders that want her installed on our local school board.

Nothing about her career choices so far say that she is someone looking to shake up the system. I don't think the past 7 years have been the covert building of a Trojan horse.

Oh, I don't think so either. But if she actually does stir up the pot a bit, I'd be tempted to vote for her and then hold her to her campaign rhetoric - or highlight her hypocrisy and shame ACDC -- to the extent they're shamable.

Ooooh, tell me more! My kids did IB at W-L and she seemed fine, and their overall experience at W-L was great, so I was all set to vote for her. And I'm on AEM, where her comments seem fine, so please, tell me what I'm missing. Not in a gossipy way, just . . . please tell me.

This!!!! Especially the housing and zoning. These are great ideas in Portland and Minneapolis but not near my own home.

The Minnesota upzoning plan specifically provides that it should not be used to concentrate poverty. It shouldn’t be used to build more lower income housing in low income neighborhoods-the goal is to create lower income housing in more expensive areas.

When has Arlington ever NOT used zoning tools to uphold the property rights and values of white UMC SFH owners? Their track record does not suggest they will use these tools in Progressive ways. I’d support them if I believed they would. But, we have a neighborhood school with 80% of current students eligible for free or reduced lunch, and they still propose building more CAFs in that exact school zone. And almost all South Arlington schools are Title 1, yet they talk about the Columbia Pike corridor as a place for future CAF development. Meanwhile, look at the schools closest to EFC Metro. What CAFs have ever been proposed there? None.
