The ACDC relies on a bunch of wealthy aging hippies, mostly based in N Arlington. On the local level, they talk liberal (ie, on national issues) but vote/legislate like the rich suburbanites that they are. They give poor people housing, so long as it is far, far away from where they live. They support "car-free" living, so long as no one upzones their single family neighborhoods. (They are fine with upzoning around Columbia Pike though.) They don't live their ideals. There are exceptions for sure, but that is the majority of folks who runs that show. They don't know many latinos and certainly don't live near them. So when one of them shows up at their meetings and is willing to run for office to help cover the ACDC hypocrisy, they are all in. Now, if Cristina actually votes to start county wide busing to HS, the ACDC will turn on her in a hot minute. So it will be interesting to watch her dance around these issues.
I am no fan of the politics surrounding SB and ACDC's role in bringing Cristina to the forefront or any of it. I don't think she's particularly qualified for the SB, either. However, if she actually touts preferred choice admissions policies and economic integration, I'll vote for her as my first choice just to shake things up. Because it would, indeed, be interesting if she really does espouse those viewpoints and ACDC didn't realize that.
