Really? The chaos on stage was “chef’s kiss”. And Rue walking away from Jules? Heartbreaking.

But Rue said she needed more time to forgive Jules. I don't see them as over, at least not their friendship.

Anonymous wrote:Spoiler alert…poor Ash and Fez! What did Ash hope to accomplish? He wasn’t going to somehow prevent Fez from going down? To me, both of his critical actions in this episode show (stabbing the guy and trying to battle it out with the cops) show young and immature he is. Fez and Faye could have neutralized the threat with the wire and were playing it smart.

I'm glad Ash went down for that. Fez called the cops himself and was going to turn himself in. What will happen to Fez? He will definitely survive, but he was caught holding the knife so will they still go after him? Will he tell the truth about his dead brother or still take the fault?

I liked that the episode didn't have a bunch of cliff hangers, other than will Fez live or die. Rue looked really healthy and I appreciated that.

Can Sydney Sweeney cry and drip boogers on demand? With a smile on her face? She's underrated.

Fez didn’t call the cops. He knew the cops would be coming when they stopped hearing the feed from their informant.

OOOOOOMG that makes so much sense.

Agree--gratuitous. Felt like voyeurism, as if the director of someone was getting off on filming sex scenes and pretending "this is real life for today's teens." Stopped watching after a while because there didn't seem to be much storytelling point to it all other than showing the sex and drug use.

Teens?

Zendaya is 25.

DP and I agree with PP. She may be 25 but most of the characters being portrayed are around 16. I watched some of season 1 to see what the buzz was about. It's just another show fetishizing teen sex and drugs. I don't really understand why adults enjoy watching teens behave badly so much, but there are plenty of shows and movies that indicate they do. Are there even any redeemable characters? I am simultaneously horrified and bored by shows like this where its just a bunch of stupid people making bad decision after bad decision. Nobody under 18 should be watching this.

You don’t have to understand why people would enjoy the show. Just clutch your pearls and move along to something that does peak your limited interest.

I have watched plenty of shows with violence, sex etc. I'm not a prude. It is the fascination with teens that I find weird. The show feels pervy to me, because its protagonists are so young.

I was also disappointed, for a number of reasons.

Rue's addiction simply disappears? C'mon. And what about the suitcase and Laurie's threat?
The play was ENDLESS. And where was administration during this show?
Four minutes of singing and guitar playing solo?

I felt it was self-indulgent and didn't respect what the audience had been through with the show.

Thank you! Those last two episodes were mostly lame. I had to suspend my disbelief way too much that a HS student gets to produce a play with those $$ props and tech and cast and crew. Just too much. The Ash storyline was good though.

I loved it at face value- the play was hilarious and it was an excellent glimpse into Lexi with fantastic writing- but kind of like the episode around rue hitting rock bottom, it didn’t do much to advance the plot of the show.

That said, I’ve loved getting to see more of Lexi this season. I keep being surprised at what a funny actress Maude Apatow is. She has really great comedic timing, she kind of reminds me of a more subtle, more Jewish Emma Stone. She definitely got her break because of nepotism, but she is talented and fun to watch.

Weird thing to say. She doesn't read particularly Jewish to me (a Jew). If I didn't know, I wouldn't have guessed. Her mother isn't Jewish.

+1

My 15 year old high school students keep trying to convince me to watch. I find it disturbing that they like it so much. I watched 20 minutes when the first season came out and found it incredibly depressing and disturbing.

I’m the PP and am also Jewish. Her humor reads Jewish to me (shrug).

Yes, zendaya gave a great performance of a struggling drug addict and the extremes they will go to. But it felt like an after school special on addiction. if the show had ever been solely about a drug addict, I wouldn’t have gotten this far into it.

Spoiler disclaimer: To me, the best part of the episode was when rue said “Cass, can I ask you a question… how long have you been ****ing Nate Jacobs?” Maddy, Cassie And Lexi’s reactions were priceless.

I can see why people thought the performance in last nights episode was a great one, but it did nothing to further the plot of the million other storylines after last weeks very eventful episode.

Ah, you are just in it for the trashy, voyeuristic side of the show. Lame.

Lol that’s certainly an exaggeration. Pretty much every single solitary popular series revolves around relationships. Highly doubt anyone was watching greys anatomy for the medical knowledge. Rues addiction is one portion of a very large ensemble and while tragic, addiction is a depressing and not particularly entertaining plot for a television series due to an often non linear progression.

It makes me incredibly sad how kids cannot be kids anymore. They have the rest of their lives to be exposed to this stuff. When you think back to what we were exposed to by comparison.

It's pique, not peak. Read a book sometime.
