I formed my view of pot in middle school. The potheads were nice but losers. All they wanted to do was smoke pot. Total difference from having a beer or glass of wine.

Do you admit you’ve failed to recalibrate to the changing times

So many people on this thread need to unclench.

Lol and this is something you're proud of?

Yikes. This does not make you sound very intelligent.

Life is better without drugs or alcohol. You people are very disturbed and not good parents.

No dope is worth losing a job over. Or a kid. Yeah, it's all fun and games until your kid needs the emergency room in the middle of the night and you crash the car killing yourself and the kid because you were high.

I have no problem with adults doing weed.

But I wouldn’t smoke pot in front of my kids or normalize it in any way. There’s solid research that pot affects developing teen brains. Go online and google teens and pot. Look for the studies that track the same kids over time (not the studies that compare two groups of kids, pot smokers and non-smokers). Then check out the 10 point IQ drops among the pot smokers.

Pot is also linked to lower seratonin and depression. Kids who are at genetic risk of depression (like mine, via their dad) are more likely to self-medicate and even join the 10% who become addicted to pot. Pot has also been linked to schizophrenia in those who are genetically prone.

So no, I would not smoke pot in front of my kids or normalize it in any way. I don’t care what they do when they reach 25 and their brains have finished developing. The pp snarling about pearl-clutching moms and adderal is an idiot.

FWIW, I hardly ever smoke pot, last time was when we visited Amsterdam last year, and my circle of friends prefers wine. I’ll have a glass in front of my kids but that’s it, more if I’m out with friends and the kids aren’t around.

So many people on this thread have to stop using dated, childish attempts at snark.

Agree, the pot smokers are getting too easily upset that other posters don't think it's all that great.
Most people who use drugs or alcohol regularly are overly defensive.

As a non-smoker, non user, I actually think the non-pot users are overreacting. There seems to be no middle ground here. No flexibility of thought.

+1 I have not smoked in 3+ decades (and was never a regular user), but the strong anti-pot people are coming off as a little crazy. It does not need to be (and in practice generally never is) so extreme

+2. I have never tried pot but I think many of the reactions is from people my age, I am in my 50s who grew up being told that “pot is s gateway drug” and we’ll all end up heroin addicts, etc. Times have changed.

In a few years, recreactional pot’s going to be legal in every state same as alcohol. People need to unclench.

Wow, some people on here are really hysterical about weed use.... it's definitely not that big of a deal.

You need to stop saying “unclench.” It dates you and makes you seem like you’re all about the ad hominems and you’re unable to debate on merits.

Signed, yes, I’ve smoked pot recently
