My friend truly believes that smoking with her husband has made all the difference in the world in regard to their marriage. The two of them share a bowl or a joint after the kids are in bed and asleep a couple nights a week as a way to wind down and enjoy one another. My friend thinks she might be divorced by now if they did not have this outlet. I tend to agree with her...

Here was our list of benefits:
-Out of this world sex that is fun and feels fantastic! If you have not had sex high, then please add it to your bucket list (not going to lie, this was the number one thing for the both of us)
-Lots of great laughs and deep conversations that really allow you to get to know the other person on a deeper level
-A way to wind down together that does not lead to a terrible hangover, which when you get to your late 30's seems to be what happens when either of us drinks more than 2 glasses of wine
-We both wake up refreshed and ready for work/life/kids, etc without having to nurse a water and take half a bottle of Asprin.
-Exploration of new music together, or bonding over your favorite songs or bands...or even watching a binge-worthy Netflix show that makes you crack up
-It is more affordable than a night out/date night and just as much fun, if not more if you are with the right person

Anyway, we were curious about others in DC, who also see the benefits of smoking weed with a partner and if you have your own list of benefits?

What would you do if your child woke up with a medical emergency?

Call 911. No different than all the women on DCUM who drink their wine.

CA, NV, WA, OR all have legalized recreational marijuana. Anyone can walk into a pot store and buy it. Pot is not a gateway drug, no more than alcohol.

you forgot Colorado - and yes it is, look beyond and see the forest through the trees, my friend.

The same as if you had a couple drinks.

What't the difference between this and being drunk? I haven't had small kids in a while, but I don't ever remember not drinking b/c I was worried that the kids would have a medical emergency. So does your fun stop when you have kids?

It everyone who drinks alcohol becomes an alcoholic. Same for people who use pot.

So we're going to ignore the obvious cancer risk? Okay.

I wouldn't get medical marijuana unless I had a chronic illness or was dying. Otherwise, you better believe it's being flagged by your insurance. If the republicans destroy the Obamacare protections, I wonder if your lung cancer will be covered when your insurance knows you've been smoking weed?

Flagged how? My insurance has NO IDEA that I partake. Oh god. Get a grip!

Lung cancer? Many people don’t smoke it because smoking is gross. Gummies bears, rice crispy treats, etc. bad for teeth, I know

I’ve never tried it but weed is probably better than the opiates that doctors over prescribe. Who needs a large bottle of pills for a minor medical procedure?

Agree. Better than a lot of the benzodiazepines like Xanax too. I told my spouse, I prefer them on pot than the klonopin which is prescribed bc they don’t seem nearly as drugged.

And when your kids are tweens and teens will you just stop, or keep on setting such a great example for them?

No, we do not do this and never will.

+100, I know so many moms just in my neighborhood who pop pills and drink like fish....yet they will be the first to look down on another person who smokes pot legally, or uses it for certain medical reasons.

Also to the above poster on "lung cancer", lol, there are many ways to enjoy the benefits of weed without smoking it!!

Smoking is not the only way to partake and this thread sounds like Reefer Madness.
