“it’s awesome, my spouse and I are so close now because we share needles and nod-off together. You get to know someone so well after cleaning up their sticky track marks before taking your kids to their grandparents house! Y’all should try it!!”

CA, NV, WA, OR all have legalized recreational marijuana. Anyone can walk into a pot store and buy it. Pot is not a gateway drug, no more than alcohol.

Why are we not surprised to see CA, WA, and OR on the list!

Who said alcohol isn't

I'm in CA and that's what I hate about legalization as well. The odor in cities is disgusting. I smelled it all over Denver too.
Please do edibles people!

I'm also perturbed with all the drivers I see smoking pot in the cars...on the freeway! . Wtf!

Really bummed that my company has random drug testing

I have seen alcohol destroy more lives than I would like to count! Weed on the other hand, not so much...but there will always be the conservative DARE people who will chime in with the gateway bullshit. There are plenty of successful people in this country who smoke a little weed and never touch another substance, including alcohol! I am one of these people and I watch in every social class an abuse of varying substances. Even here on DCUM I read countless threads related to a culture that encourages alcohol use. Also, to the "smell" posters there are countless ways to enjoy THC without smoking it. I am also going to add that I dont believe people should use any substance until their brains are fully developed. I dont support kids using anything!

This is not new, nor special. And sex should be mind blowing without being high.

OP here, my social standing has everything to do with how hard I worked to get to where I am! I came from nothing actually, and so did DH. We were not sitting on our asses getting too high to make it....WOW!

Also, sex with my DH is off the charts amazing regardless of smoking or not, but with everything in this world certain things can enhance certain experiences. People do lots of things to improve or enhance their sex lives...lol...how many threads are on here about that? Also how many jokes do you here husband's make about how much fun sex is with their wives after they have had a couple of drinks? So many comedians even joke about it for a reason! Unclench the Pearl's Nancy!

if things are so great, why wait until the kids go to bed? is there something wrong with what you are doing you don't want your kids to be around?

The thing with justifying alcohol consumption because “it’s for the flavors and food pairings” is that alcoholic drinks don’t actually taste good. Your body and mind have associated the taste with the effects and that is why it tastes good. If you remove the effects, you stop liking the taste. I know many people who gave up alcohol for some time and when they tried it later on, they thought it was gross.

It’s the same thing with coffee- I used to drink entire pots of black coffee and loved the taste. Once I switched to decaf and stopped getting the caffeine hits, I stopped liking the taste. No worries it just tastes bitter and I have to put in a ton of sugar and cream to make it palatable.

You should try switching to non-alcoholic beer and wine for a couple months so you can see it for yourself.

No Pearl's, I just know a weedhead when I see one. Just like the cokeheads and drunks, I dont judge them for their choices.

Alcohol is kind of gross. I like the buzz.

I saw someone post that week is for underachievers, and that made me snicker...I worked for a huge global PR firm, and everyone from the U.S. CEO on down to the creative assistants smoked pretty regularly. It wasn't even a secret.

The main problem is that weed isn't marketed well. Sell it to me like wine; this does this, that one does this...

We do. DH more often than me because for him it does provide stress relief. For me it's just recreational. I don't think it adds or detract to the quality of our marriage, though. But that's pretty stable in the first place.

You're defensive about your pot smoking and getting high when you have to compare it to wine, beer, and cocktails.

You can't afford anything other than weed grown from dirt. We get it.

I dont smoke or drink in front of my kids, period. I dont think children should do any substances until they fully developed brains. At 21, go ahead and do what you want to do.

Way to attempt to be classist and fail. You really have no idea what you're talking about it regarding pricing and cost - and last I checked wine came from grapes that grow in...the dirt.

And...last I checked people who use marijuana aren't dropping like flies from liver cirrhosis:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/to-your-health/wp/2018/07/18/alcohol-related-liver-deaths-have-increased-sharply/?utm_term=.e3ecd8de6881

Sorry you want to justify your mom wine daily events - you're still not classy and you're still a lush.
