Has Rehoboth Beach changed for the worse ?

I can’t believe anyone would compare OCMD to Rehobeth. OCMD is like Wildwood! I’m surprised people like that place.

OCMD has always been that way - even 30 years ago.

Even last year, Rehoboth was mostly families with kids and older white gay people, unless something drastically changed this summer with the pandemic.

So tough to be a DCUM'er. All the local beaches don't meet lofty standards of DCUM posters. You either have to share the beach in OC or Delaware with an obese person with tattoos, or you can go to OBX and starve, since "there's no edible food there."

Rehoboth and OC, while not perfect beach destinations, are still enjoyable IMHO. I grew up going to OC and Delaware, so part of it is nostalgia for me. My favorite beach spots are OBX and Cape Cod, but still have a fondness for OC and Delaware. For some of their shortcomings, I still prefer them over places like Hilton Head, which while nice, just seem too sterile and cookie cutteresque.

My problem with DE/MD beaches is that they are too dense and developed. There is little nature and it’s just homes packed in like sardine cans. It’s not peaceful.

This might be shocking but literally no one GAF.

I no longer like MV either, WAY too crowded, just like all the other beaches. The best is Mansion Beach on Block Island and 2nd Beach at Newport, RI. You literally have a beautiful beach with warm weather ( slight chilly NE breeze), and the view of pastoral estates in the background. No trashy people to be found ANYWHERE.

Truth be told, isn't taking vacations trashy? The true old money just moves from comfortable property to comfortable property with the occasional stop by a discreet leafy rehab to visit Pater. BTW, my valet is typing this for me obv.

Thanks for the tip. How long's the runway on Block Island. Can it accommodate my Gulfstream?

I love Ocean City, MD. Has a warm year round community, population swells in summer weeks as visitors come. Is fun to see the families and all the events - but then it quiets back down in September. Living by the water is lovely, and there are enough entertainment opportunities to make a nice life. I avoid the boardwalk after midnight, but would not be out at night anyplace so that’s not unusual. I don’t think I’d like someplace where different types of people aren’t welcome, how boring.

Sounds great. Does Mansion Beach have a Thrasher's?

Nope, runway is too short for a Gulfstream. You'll have to take the ferry with the poor people.

Thanks. I will leave the Gulfstream at home and bring the yacht.

I hate poo poo water and will only go to Dewey, Lewes, OC etc., if it's to skimboard or to surf. My preference is to go south where the water much warmer and clearer.
