I think people are referring to the day trippers - locals who come in to enjoy the beach. They congregate in certain areas close to where the bus drops them off. |
Yes. I also see a lot of VA plates in RB. Most of our renters are from NY, PA, NJ and MD. |
CAMP Rehoboth is a huge part of the community in RB. |
Well put. |
+1. I find this classist attitude towards the less wealthy who also want to enjoy the public beach and spaces to be abhorrent. Of course it has everything to do with these people not being UMC/UC like the pp. These aren't the lawyers pp is complaining about. |

Fortunately on the east coast our beaches are public and are open to everyone to enjoy.
By contrast it can be difficult for those that are poor in California and don't own ocean front property to get on a beach with their families. |
All the racist mid-atlantic folks come out for these threads. I always feel like I've travelled back to the 80s. They can't say this about black people, so, go after the "low class whites". Mark my words, until they find out the black family sitting next to them is a partner at a law firm, they assume that family is low class too. If you are not from here, all these beaches seem the same and none of them seem "upscale". |

I’ve been going there for 10 years and rarely see the groups you are talking about OP. Drunks cursing ?
I can’t believe anyone would compare OCMD to Rehobeth. OCMD is like Wildwood! I’m surprised people like that place. |
I think you need to check your own white privilege. Also, how is the family a partner at a law firm? That’s an absurd statement. Presumably, you mean a member of the family is a partner, so say that. |
| The overweight tatooed lady is probably the lady who cleans your 4 million dollar rental on Saturdays. |
Um ... You don't have issues, you have a subscription. NP |
NP here. I’ve never been to any of these places. I just came to say that this is the lamest insult I’ve ever seen. |

The truly wealthy, old money in DC area keep summer houses in New England (Nantucket, MV, the Cape, Newport, or Maine) and/or have a house and boat on the Eastern Shore. In my circle of friends & acquaintances, that seems to be much more prevalent than shlepping to DE/MD beaches.
My problem with DE/MD beaches is that they are too dense and developed. There is little nature and it’s just homes packed in like sardine cans. It’s not peaceful. |
Um, you'd think if you've been going there for 10 years, you'd know it's Rehoboth, not Rehobeth. (Rehoboth is a Hebrew word, and the town was originally a Methodist camp. End of PSA.) |
