DC Public and Public Charter Schools
I feel like public officials can be either ethically challenged or stupid, but not both at the same time. He seems to be both. Bowser, at times, seems to be both. |
Do any of these officials seeks counsel regarding these matters? I never cease to be amazed by the wild, wild west attitude of some city employees. The blatant disregard for rules and inability to discern the optics of a situation is mind boggling. You couldn't pay me enough to serve on DC's Ethics Board. |

Oh and there's this: Wilson's contract basically gives Bowser free reign to fire him for cause over this:
https://twitter.com/maustermuhle/status/964609590074773510 Why she hasn't yet is a deepening mystery. |
Maybe they have dirt on each other re. the other scandals! |
She just needs time to find a replacement. If he goes before someone else is recruited she really owns everything wrong with DCPS. And no way does she want that. |
+1000 and helping write the policy that he just violated beats the cake! |
The current Chancellor's message is "Equity and Access"
|
| You can fire him, but then who do you have in the wings? Wilson is a good guy - though I'd like to know how you get through this mentally without saying, "I'm pretty sure I just signed a press release saying we don't do this shit anymore." |
By what measure is he a “good guy”? |
NP. The one good thing I've seen him do so far was getting a bargaining agreement done with the teachers. That was needed and positive. |
| It seems highly unfair to me that Ms. Niles is being fired and he isn't . He actually owns more of the responsibility in this than she does. Either they should both be fired or both disciplined. |
Agreed, this is weird! |
I don't think he owns more responsibility -- they are both culpable. He asked -- and she didn't immediately shut it down. But two lottery cheating scandals involving VIPs happened under her watch, and the Ballou mess too. The teachers from Ballou told her what was happening -- and she has been around DC long enough (unlike the chancellor) to know things were shady there. |
You probably can't and because of that I could see how at least some of the details of any special treatment -- if there was any -- could reasonably be left out of public documents. But I don't think you can say that because it impacts his daughter, the public doesn't have a right to know, at least generally, whether strings were pulled to get her into Ellington. If something like that happened, it would add a very significant layer to this scandal because there would be two separate instances of his kids receiving improper favors. I think that would be a lot harder for him to survive. |
| Superintendents that are elected are accountable to the community. But keep doing the same dumb sh!t! Wilson is average just like the person that put him in the position. Parents have no voice, opinion, or recourse. But this so called activist city likes it that way! |
