Or break your lease/put your house up for sale and move. It's costly folks, but that is the cost of living in a city one one viable, non-application public HS. He wants to regain my trust. Thenn move IB NOW or pull your kid out.

I agree. Move IB or pull your kid back to your IB school.

I sold my nice home in NE and bought my current shit shack to live inbounds for J,K,L,M/Deal/Wilson. These politicians and officials need to feel the pain their constituents feel and understand their children are no more precious and deserving than any of ours. Move or send the kid to Dunbar. No sympathy.

Or: improve Dunbar? ?

Correction.

So how do conversations like this not happen any more?

How about if you keep it classy and don't discuss people's minor children at all? The kid didn't do anything wrong.

How about Ellington's admissions process gets a review too. First all the Maryland kids and now this?

I stand by what I said. Leave the kid out of it. Talk about what her dad did. Talk about what her dad's boss did. Talk about Ellington if you want to. Leave her and your smarmy air quotes out of it.

This isn't about the kid. It is about whether Wilson -- or others in DCPS -- used influence to get her into Ellington.

If she got into Ellington outside the normal process, it is no better than what happened with her transferring to Wilson.

That may or may not be the case, but it is a very fair question to ask at this point.

Well Bowser has asked the independent ethics board to look further into Wilson's actions, and possibly come up with additional punishments. it isn't over.

Yeah, but from what I just read that ethics board has been gutted. Can’t wait to see how “independent” it really is.

Most of us have limited impact on that. Now the Chancellor is the one person with the most ability to affect the school, but instead he voted “no confidence”.

This will only end when OOB ends. The only school you have a right to attend is the one in your neighborhood. Turn these schools around with buy-in from all neighbors and stop stuffing the few well functioning ones to the point they no longer work.

The IG has also been told to look into it.

And how on Earth did he think this wouldn't get out?

Wow. Mayor told him the kid has to be removed from Wilson. Surprised she took a hard line on this one.

I think he figured he'd be on to his next gig by the time it got out.

Seriously. Dishonest is one thing. Being stupid as well is unacceptable.

She’s covering her own ass. She realizes what a joke her administration has been thus far and is trying to show some tough leadership. Right.

OOB is the symptom, not the problem. If everyone had a decent IB school people could go wherever they wanted OOB and nobody would care.

It wouldn't be. I objected to the quotes around her "art" and also to the characterization of Henderson's children as "spawn." These are children. You are presumably adults. Act like it.

+1000. Stay focused, everyone.

I think it's a legitimate question whether the kid got special consideration getting into Ellington. I don't know how you discuss that without getting into the kid's personal business though.
