| Go, but tell him you used the money you would have spent on his gift to pay for a babysitter. |
| Ironically, when the snotbag has his own children I predict that he'll expect the world to revolve around them. |
Good, that's what you deserved. And of course you aren't going to bring it up again, you'd be ceritifiable if you did. You can't possibly have this little going on in your own life that you are going to make this invitation your Moby Dick. |
His post was not the thing causing so much drama, at all. |
| The problem is not that kids are not allowed or that babysitting won't be provided. The problem is that he is so hateful about it. It's pretty clear that he's a child hater. I wouldn't have planned to bring my kid to such a party, but I would be very put off by his obvious disgust for children. Screw him. |
I suspect that he had your children in mind when he said "no monsters.". Probably, you, as well. |
I hope you also went out of your way to shame the people who were so rude as to ask for a party room and babysitters, and not just the person who had to deal with their bad behavior. |
| I don't understand all these posts defending the cousin. He sounds like an angry, toxic jerk. |
This. Asking for free babysitting is rude. But your cousin's response, as well as his response to you, was escalatingly rude. Threatening to disinvite people and cancel the party? Way over the top. He was within his rights not to want kids at the party. But he's clearly a jackass. |
| I love the response. I really don't understand idiots that are offended by it. |
Oh, bullshit. This kind of sarcasm is not a sign of intelligence. It's the humor of teenagers and people who think they are smarter than others. Being able to be mean and harsh is not a sign of intelligence. I don't get what's funny about--I hate kids, I don't want your kids there, I've already disinvited some family members over this, I'm paying for the party, so shut up. Yes, people are rude to ask for free child care. But that doesn't mean that the host/guest of honor gets free rein to be a dick about it. Just say the party is adults-only and people need to make their own child care arrangements. |
| Everyone involved in this entire situation seems horrible TBH. |
Yes to the bold part. |
Takes one to know one I guess, PP. |
I agree. It started off as being semi-funny/sarcastic/an attempt to defuse, and then went much too far and got attacking/offensice |
