I bought mine in January and I'm also extremely happy with mine.
I'll be 40 next month PP so no, it isn't too late for you to get one. |
Just do it - it's the best piece of fitness equipment I have ever owned by a mile. The energy created by live instructors is real - it's a great product. |
I am the PP who wrote this and just wanted to report back that I am very pleased so far. I have been riding at least 5 days a week on average. I hit my 50th ride fairly quickly and got a live shoutout from the instructor. I was honestly surprised at how inspiring the shout-out was. I am looking forward to my century ride. I am even thinking of visiting the studio in NYC. I mostly do 30 and 45 minute rides. I haven't worked up the courage to try a 60 minute ride yet. My favorite instructors are Emma, Cody, Denis, Robin, Jess, and Jennifer. I occasionally do scenic rides as a recovery. Mostly I do prerecorded rides but I usually get in at least one live ride a week. I did have to upgrade my home WiFi. I don't think their WiFi in the tablet is very strong. Before I upgraded it was glitching a fair amount but post-upgrade it's been better. I wish I could say I'd lost a lot of weight but I haven't lost any (of course I haven't been dieting or really trying). However I sleep better so that's something, health-wise. Plus I can tell I'm stronger because I can do higher resistance/higher RPMs. All in all I'm still glad with the purchase. |
I just hit my 20th ride and I've had my bike for about a month. I think I would have more, but I had a few issues with the bike the first week and a half that prevented me from riding.
I can't see myself regretting this purchase. I always found myself talking myself out of going to the gym or to a fitness class for one reason or another, but I can't do that with the bike right there in my house. Even if I'm convinced I only have one 20 minute ride in me, I'll end up doing the 20 minute ride, plus a 30 minute ride, plus a 10 minute cool down and maybe a stretching or short yoga class. It really does make me want to push myself to keep my fitness level up. |
I’m a NP but have been watching this thread for a while. Tomorrow I am going to Tyson’s to check out and most likely order my bike. I am so excited. I used to pay a lot of money for studio classes in the past. I now have a toddler and a newborn and having a bike at home would certainly solve my guilt issues about trying to schedule classes and go.
Thank you for all the information here! |
This thread reminds me of that Black Mirror episode where people in a futuristic society ride bikes to generate power and earn credits to buy things. One step closer.... |
Given how much I oush myself to get various badges, I could see myself totally getting into that idea! |
What music is played in the classes? Techno stuff with no words, with no beginning or ending?
I prefer popular songs with words and not remixes. It's important for me to know when a song is going to end, and to have something familiar to focus on otherwise I can't distract myself from the pain of exertion. |
This to me is where Peloton absolutely excels and is far above the competition. You can choose any genre you want, and they have everything from 80s pop to hardcore hip hop (with cussing and everything) and you can view the playlist before the class begins. I did a 90s hip hop ride with Robin Arzon this weekend and was overjoyed and pumped that I was actually riding to music I would have on my spotify playlist. I cannot do techno and dance music. In fact, I mostly do hip hop, 80s, 90s and 00s pop and that's about it. You won't see me in a country class, but there are so many classes to choose from, there's something for everyone. |
Yes I have been known to break out in song as I ride. |
I blame this thread for making me dream last night that I bought a Peloton. |
I really want one. Are the showrooms set up for you to be able to actually try out a class? |
I think I'm going to buy one. Do you need to buy their earbuds or can I use my old Apple ones with the regular jack? |
I don't use earbuds with mine, I just use the speakers on the device and they're fine, but the Peloton earbuds that came with the bike are standard ones, so your Apple buds should be fine.
Has anyone successfully been able to cast the Peloton screen to a smart tv? We have a Vizio and my Peloton isn't listing it on the list of devices. |
You can use any headphones. But I usually jack up the music on the speakers. The music is one of the selling points - and the instructors. They push and encourage. We've had it for about 5 months and each use it twice weekly. |
