A fact that many Republican, Christian - and nonetheless mired in scandal - public officials think applies to Democratic officials only. Exhibit A, the C Street guys.

For starters, he could have admitted his guilt instead of using his family wealth and connections to brush the event under the carpet. He could have resigned from office and worked on improving his marriage and family life. He could have given lectures on the evils of drunk driving. He could have given vast amounts of his wealth to charities that try to prevent drunk driving. When you put yourself in public office, you open yourself to being judged.

Yes, I noticed that John McCain and Orrin Hatch were "judging" him most eloquently last night. They seem to think there was something worthwhile there despite his sordid mistakes and spoke quite fondly of him and with great respect.

BTW, when John McCain dies, I will be sad and I won't be posting here about how he got help from his powerful family to get into the Naval Academy when he was not a stellar student and how his drinking and poor behavior hurt his career as a young man before he turned himself into a better person and how he had an affair behind his wife's back and then dumped her for a rich trophy wife.

I won't be posting that because 1) it will be sad that a man who rose above those horrible mistakes is dead (even if I didn't agree with him on many things) and 2) I will have some respect for the people on this board who do agree with him and who will be grieving deeply over his passing.

Okay back to Ted Kennedy basically killed someone and tried at first to say that he didn't do anything wrong and then went on to many other trangressions. I really am bothered when I hear people trying to compare him to othe politicians like John McCain..please he was tortured for years and still wanted to serve the country and marital problems are not the issue. Ted Kennedy would be in jail if some of his nonsense happened today. I think what bothers people like me is the going on and on about how great he was and watching the news dedicate days to his passing like he was something great. He is a criminal pure and simple.

19:04 again -- Well, what I was really addressing was your behavior. If John McCain is so great, [b]why don't you act like him?[b]

Yes Joe Biden's favorite topic is always himself! Always has been!

The C Street guys are pretty slimy I must admit...but none of their terrible behavior ended up in someone being dead or having to testify in their nephew's rape trial!

A mere man who had a damn good voting record and wrote some great legislation. Crawl back under your right wing rock.
