The irony is that DH has a Star of David tattoo on his forearm.

Your Jewish husband has a tattoo?

Reformed?

NP here, and a Christian. He has a Star of David tattoo? I think that is awesome.

Long live American freedom of religion and freedom of expression.

Wife of Jewish Star tattoo here. DH said that if we were at a water park and saw someone with a swastika tattoo, he would want to take the kids and leave immediately. He wouldn't complain to management and wouldnt want to antagonize the guy out of fear for our kids' and my safety. If they were in a different scenario with no wife/kids present? Who knows what would happen.

Yup. And, "Am Yisrael Chai" in Hebrew underneath. Believe it or not, we go to Chabad! We aren't observant ourselves but our kids love the Hebrew school and are learning so much about Judaism and reading and writing Hebrew.

If you go to the beaches in Israel, there are tons of tattoos. His parents were horrified but younger Jews today are much more comfortable with tattoos.

x1000

THIS.

Don't be absurd. Now you are all sounding like bigots.

I'm a black immigrant mom with a black husband and black daughters. Don't tell me I'm being absurd.

I'm not black but I've witnessed that racism is still alive and thriving in VA. It's disgusting.

Oh, right. Because there isn't any in Maryland. What a bunch of morons you all are. And absurd.

I've never lived in MD so I didn't comment on MD. Not surprising though.

I do live in VA and it's MUCH more prevelant than where I've lived previously (NY, CA). A bit of culture shock when I first moved here.

I bet all the racist "free speech" PPs would sing a different tune if the guy was, say, wearing a shirt offensive to women. How about with a print showing man dragging a woman by her hair, with the caption "Bitches are for beating and raping"? Y'all would lose it. I mean, people lose their sh!t when they see a woman breastfeeding in public, but swastikas at a children's park are OK? SMDH

PP, when you wander all over with your generalizations and faux comparisons you completely negate it all.

FYI, I tolerate racists, misogynistic media called rap that doesn't seem to be a problem for millions of Americans. And I see NO difference between a racist swastika tattooed skinhead and the person putting out that trash rap. None.

Easy guess that you're white.

And you tolerate racist, mysoginistic rap at the Waterpark when you're there with your kids? Ha ha!

Even though it's irrelevant, but apparently not to you, I grew up in an area that for some years I was subjected to racism. Epithets, shunning and even physical assault that only stopped after we moved away.

As for your last example, hell no I wouldn't. Why? I can look away from the tattooed man but the music would be an assault that can't be ignored. And while I believe in free speech I wouldn't tolerate that man verbally spewing hatred in a place such as the WP. So, I tolerate the right of others to engage in activities etc. that I find repugnant but cannot infringe upon my freedom.

So you're a hypocrite.

How ignorant can you be? Apparently a lot.

Tolerance means that you accept their right to listen or believe, it does not give them a right to inflict it on you against your will. If they opened a racist waterpark I wouldn't go. If they had waterpark that played obscene misogynistic music I wouldn't go. I don't buy it nor am I forced to. If that racist asshole with the tattoo's assaulted me verbally in a public venue it is infringing on my rights. If they want to get a permit and stand on a corner or march in their hoods, they have a right. But they can't decide to gather in my home or even in my backyard. That is a violation of my rights. Our freedoms are unlimited as they have boundaries. The tattooed man is offensive to me, but he is not infringing on my rights nor am I going to intolerantly try to force him to the corner for his beliefs. Too many people in this country trying to control others.

+1

That won't be helpful and guess what, people like that are crazy and your ridiculous mumbling does nothing but put you in harm's way.

I'm ok with that risk. I can throw a little crazy back his way.

Me too. I wouldn't cause a scene, but I'd throw some shade and disdain.

Those types are generally cowards, so I'll take the slight risk.

How is going out in public with a tatoo that you know is going to piss off a majority of the population cowardly? I find it abhorrent as well, but cowardly is not the proper word here.

I've lived in Virginia for 44 years and have never seen a swastika tattoo.
