Ex-Clergy realizing there is no god

Wonder if OP got what she wanted out of it. If she was trolling and wanted bickering, then she did get that.

Some people just can't seem to help themselves.

Personally, I believe OP wanted to start a bit of a flame war in this thread. It's an inflammatory way to bring up religion ("ho ho your clergy has "realized" that there is no god, what now Christians?") Even then, I was pretty amazed watching this thread devolve from page 1. (I should point out that I'm neither Christian nor atheist. Just amazed at how bad this thread was.)

OP was just quoting the title of the article, which was: "Ex-Clergy Explain How They Realized There Is No God". Perhaps you should read the article for more insight.

Not that PP, but you missed the point, which was about OP's motives for posting that on the first place.

Plus Vice.com isn't exactly The NY Times. I'm a lefty, but we've all learned in recent months to look for bias in our news sources.

I'm OP. I came across the article and thought it provided some interesting perspectives from former clergy across different religions. Thought I'd share for discussion. Got a couple "real" responses. The rest was a swirl of hate that seems to linger to the Religion board, like a turd circling the toilet drain.

You all should try a little self-reflection about your own motives for what you've posted. Because most of it stinks.

It popped up on one of the über hippy pages I follow on FB. Some things they post are way out there but this seemed legit. Just people sharing their experiences. If you don't want to read or discuss it, feel free to move on.

Swirl of hate? Like turds circling the drain? You have a talent for over-exaggeration. Several people here don't seem to buy your "who, innocent me?" shtick, either. There seems to be a concensues that you were stirring the pot--you know which pot.

The consensus is in your mind. and it seems like you are the pot-stirrer. Why not just read the article and comment on it, as OP asked.
Anonymous
The article draws from the Clergy Project. Which has just 756 members across 30 countries and all the major world religions.

Not exactly a groundswell, or the end of Christian, Jewish, Muslim or Hindu clergy as we know them.

Tell me again, why did I waste my time taking OP seriously?

Maybe you don't sense the hate going around and around because you're one of the PPs dishing it out. It's toxic and just fuels MORE hate back and forth. You seem like one of the most hostile PPs to me. Just move on already.

BLS reports 49,320 clergy in the US alone: https://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes212011.htm.

And 756 across 30 countries and all the major world religions have lost their faith and joined the Clergy Project.

So weird that you attack me and not the turds-in-the-toilet-bowl poster. Take your blinders off.

Ok...and? Did I ever claim every clergy in the world was dropping religion like a hot potato? No.

More outrage. You just want to be outraged. Got it.
