Hit submit too soon... "But what about when your faith is your livelihood? After years of study and seminary, after building an entire life around your faith, what do you do when you realize the link between you and your higher power has disappeared?" "I do, however, think that they are wasting a lot of time, effort, and money on nonsense." Interesting how many people from so many different faiths are coming to the same conclusion: There is no god. |

The title of this post strikes me as funny.
The semantics of it. "Realized there is no god." It's assuming "there is no god" is a fact. How about "ex-clergy came to conclusion there is no god" or "ex-clergy suddenly declares he feels there is no god." Your second post here has that same presumptive feel. How about some people feel there is one, some people feel there is none. Stop acting like it's the eventual conclusion we will all come to. |
| And when they die, they'll realize they were wrong about that. |
If these people who have deeply studied and practiced religion have all come to this realization why do you think you won't? Do you think you're smarter or more pius than they were? |
| Hahaha, so who cares about his conclusion. I have my own. My hubby has his own. You have your own. The article is a big 'so what?'. |
There were several stories in the article. Did you even read it? |
I've deeply studied the Bible myself. The more I study it, the stronger my faith in God is. So why are the apostates the enlightened ones? |
Maybe because they had so many people coming to them, asking them questions, that they more deeply thought through "god" and religion. You've presumably only looked at it through your own eyes. They've had a chance to get perspective from their followers, too. |
| Clergy are fallible human beings, just like the rest of them. And yet Satan targets them all the more just b/c he knows it will be a huge "get" if he can get a pastor to fall away from his flock. That is why we all need to pray for our clergy. They certainly need our prayers, just as much as we need theirs. |
Interesting. So in your mind the clergy realizing there is no god is really "satan" targeting them? |

Well, ha ha, the biggest mystery known to man is all over now!!
Because of this one guy, or a few people in the article, we can now surely trust there is no god, move on with our lives, etc. Thank you, op, for you have crushed my once very personally held belief and trust that there is someone I can talk to in prayer. What I once believed so strongly, this article has now awoken me to a new life. /sarcasm. Could it be that, again, no one can force their belief or disbelief on someone else? And so whatever that dude is facing, has no effect on me? Perhaps there is a god, and he has submitted to action (or inaction) that makes him feel disconnected? Or perhaps there is no god, and the rest of us are delusional? Either way, the article says nothing that I haven't seen before. |
He is working at all times to pull anyone he can away from Christ. |
Well, unfortunately no one will realize anything after they die since their consciousness will be just as it was in the millenia before they were born - not extant. Which means no one will be able to say to anyone else, "I told you there was no god/afterlife." This is actually why I don't care whether people are believers or not. It just doesn't matter in the end. If it makes people feel happier to believe in an afterlife, then more power to them. |
How would he do that? |
