Sorry, the BLS link doesn't work. Just google "BLS clergy" and the 49,320 figure will come right up. |
Amused, not outraged. I'm not alone in thinking you're a troll. At the very least, next time you should think twice before you try stirring the pot with something from Vice.com. |
OP here. I posted a little article that I read. Didn't claim it was anything more than it was. Got a couple of responses. The thing I don't like on this thread was all of the unnecessary hate going back and forth. Like the hate you are currently spewing forth. Why are so you angry and hateful? Why don't you just go away if this topic doesn't interest you? |
Oh ok. Thanks for the kindly advice, thread police. I'll consult you first next time.
|
Here is your link. https://www.bls.gov/oes/current/oes212011.htm |
Actually, you kinda did try to make it into a big deal. These are from your first few posts: "Interesting how many people from so many different faiths are coming to the same conclusion: There is no god." "If these people who have deeply studied and practiced religion have all come to this realization why do you think you won't? Do you think you're smarter or more pius than they were?" Calling me "angry and hateful" doesn't make it so. I'm just pushing back, which is the prerogative of anybody being attacked. You can dish it out by the bowl-full, you obviously can't take it. Also, you should stop trying to pretend that you and others weren't saying hateful things about faith and making up stuff about what others supposedly believe. Your problem is that anybody can go back on this thread and see what you and (some) other atheists posted. |
This is why I think OP is basically disingenuous, including about her intent for this thread. Pretending that she and others were standing around innocently when some religious freaks attacked her for no reason. Right. |
Wow -- 756 members across 30 countries and all the world religions! Who knew there were so many clergy who don't believe across all the major world religions. Makes you wonder how many more there are who have not yet identified themselves. |
So tell us -- what in your opinion was OP's intent for this thread besides sharing this article and hoping for feedback? |
Speculation is definitely the way to go, that should clear it all up. |
PP and a few others here think any post about religion that does not support religious belief or might challenge belief or hurt the feelings of a believer is unfit for the religion forum. Imagine if the same sentiment was held in other forums. There would be no criticizing of schools, teachers, administrators or systems and no comparing of one school unfavorably to another or suggesting that a school be closed or a educational technique was outdated or no longer effective. In the relationships forum, the focus would be on how to make good marriages even better and not on the benefits of divorce in certain cases or the option of being single. And on the political forum, everyone would agree that respecting people's views meant that there could be no negative comments about political issues, candidates or parties. |
Oh please. You attack us, so we push back. Don't try to make this into something cosmic about freedom of speech, that's so pathetic. Instead, take responsibility for your own bigotry and flame throwing. |
Interesting idea. So there have been many attacks on atheists recently. Please share where you all took responsibility for those. Or is it perfectly ok for "believers" to troll and spread hate? |
^^ Exhibit A ^^ |
"Many attacks" = three threads over the past month that you or another atheist was able to put together. vs Countless attacks on people of faith in this thread and others. In this thread alone: making up nonsense you insist we believe. You're like the playground bully who complains that her knuckles get bruised when she hits people. |
