Can someone who has read the book tell us whether we ever find out what happened with Amabella and the choking? Not what happened, just whether it will be explained.

Yes. It will be disclosed.

Remarkable how much she can say without saying much. I'm calling a well-deserved Emmy nom for NK.

She's doing a spectacular, understated job.

NK picks a lot of projects that just don't interest me. I'm so glad she chose BLL so we can watch and appreciate her understated talent. She was also phenomenal in her supporting role in LION (where she portrays the mom of an adopted boy -- the most "normal" of all her roles).

I have a 1st grader who I and most others consider to be well-spoken and mature for her age (only child syndrome), and she's a baby compared to this character. No 6-7yo talks that way. I'd guess her more 10-11.

And NO teacher would have handled that situation that way.

I think it's clear the girl who plays Chloe is at least 8-10 yrs. old, but playing a first grader. There's no innocence or babyish-ness to her. Not believable as a first grader at all, and it bugs me.

Also agree about the teacher "handling" the situation of rooting out the bully. No way in hell would a teacher actually decide to have that whole accusation scene play out in front of the entire class and their parents. That would be a private conversation.

Yeah the choking scene with the teacher and parents is bogus.

As for Chloe, she's not like that in the book. But I don't doubt that in real life Cali some (most?) first graders are like her.

And Madeline's kitchen... I die.

The ridic houses are a David Kelley creation. He also wrote the characters as heightened versions of the book's portrayal of them. It is HBO after all.

I don't get why they dress NK's character so poorly. Celeste is supposed to be knock dead gorgeous and crazy rich. I see that Celeste would choose to be more understated but I find her wardrobe weirdly odd and/or too simple/frumpy. Certainly NK could pull off any look so this seems intentional. The rest of the female characters' wardrobes seem spot on.

Exactly. It wouldnt be interesting if things were basic.

I don't have the googling skillz to find out, but I'm sure the dress she wore to the therapy session with Vampire Eric cost over $500.

I figured I just didn't have the fine taste to appreciate it. I'd be curious is someone recognized her clothes as designer.

How does Mad line have that house if their income is under $150K!

Didn't she say in the first episode the line of wealth was over/under 150k and they were under?

No! Blasphemy. I haven't read the book either, but I'm waiting to see who is murdered. Right now, I've got a few guesses, but I'm not sure. I'm also wondering if there might be more to little Ziggy than we're aware of. He's so adorable and sweet, but then Jane noticed Harold the Hippo was missing a leg. Could Ziggy actually be a little monster? I hope not. He's a doll.

Have not read the book, and I HATE spoilers so I refuse to google. I kind of assumed from the first episode that it's Maddie who's killed. I have no idea, obviously.
