Big Little Lies HBO

So based on the previews next week ziggy's mom and the teacher go out to lunch??? What school ever allows this kind of interaction re issues in the classroom? I have a hard time with the Escher scenes, they are so unrealistic.

The therapist scene was really long in TV time. I guess if it were to be realistic, it should last 6 weeks?

I thought the therapist scene was a little over the top. I even remarked to my wife: "Wow, they just had 8 breakthroughs in 5 minutes of therapy. That doesn't happen in the real world!"

I get that the therapist scene is being used to push the plot forward (and establish probable cause/uncertainty for Celeste's husband as the killer....IDK if he actually is, didn't read the books or spoilers), but it was a bit hard for me to suspend disbelief in that scene.

You got it all wrong?

I've only seen the show: They've been to therapists before, the wife knows not to push him, husband knows what to say. It is all part of their dysfunctional marriage.

Agree. I was on the edge of my seat, wondering if they were actually going to tell the truth. I thought for sure Perry would beat her up once they got home. What a twisted relationship.

Definitely. Abusers/Narcissists hate honesty in public.

I have a 1st grader who I and most others consider to be well-spoken and mature for her age (only child syndrome), and she's a baby compared to this character. No 6-7yo talks that way. I'd guess her more 10-11.

And NO teacher would have handled that situation that way.

I think it's clear the girl who plays Chloe is at least 8-10 yrs. old, but playing a first grader. There's no innocence or babyish-ness to her. Not believable as a first grader at all, and it bugs me.

Also agree about the teacher "handling" the situation of rooting out the bully. No way in hell would a teacher actually decide to have that whole accusation scene play out in front of the entire class and their parents. That would be a private conversation.

It's obvious to me that we're supposed to assume Perry is the killer since he is violent, but I think it's a red-herring for someone less obvious. I'm beginning to have my suspicions about what's going on, but don't know if I should share in this thread!

If the little girl really was hurt at school (have my doubts), my money would be on one of Perry's sons. the odds are they have seen things between their parents and Perry likes to go for the throat.

I've not read the book, but I wonder if we find out!

Remarkable how much she can say without saying much. I'm calling a well-deserved Emmy nom for NK.

Not a bad guess! I hadn't thought of that. And he was claiming Ziggy shouldn't be around his boys because he (Ziggy) is "violent." Poor Ziggy. I love that little guy.

I was wondering if Ziggy's dad is actually Perry? But then, I guess we're supposed to think that, what with the violence, etc.

Oh wow - I had not thought of that. This would also explain the strange look between Celeste and Ziggy's mom at the coffee shop in the first episode.

The close-up on the man's shoes in the rape scene seems to be foreshadowing. Does Perry wear the same shoes? They look to be very expensive.
