I think she was talking about just the mother's incomes , meaning that she makes under $150k, not that $150k is her & Ed's total HHI.

Madeline lives in a large, updated, ocean front home in monterey... that is minimum 3 million for a crappy small home so her house is more like 5 million.

Vampire Eric is so cute even when he's being violent. Although this character and his character in The Giver were not great. But he's sooo very cute....

I thought the therapist scene was a little over the top. I even remarked to my wife: "Wow, they just had 8 breakthroughs in 5 minutes of therapy. That doesn't happen in the real world!"

I get that the therapist scene is being used to push the plot forward (and establish probable cause/uncertainty for Celeste's husband as the killer....IDK if he actually is, didn't read the books or spoilers), but it was a bit hard for me to suspend disbelief in that scene.

+1
It's obvious to me that we're supposed to assume Perry is the killer since he is violent, but I think it's a red-herring for someone less obvious. I'm beginning to have my suspicions about what's going on, but don't know if I should share in this thread!

Agree. I also think the Jane rape/shoe thing is different from the costume party murder? As in, Perry is a psycho, but there is another psycho in the midst (who murdered someone).

I see that Celeste would choose to be more understated but I find her wardrobe weirdly odd and/or too simple/frumpy. Certainly NK could pull off any look so this seems intentional. The rest of the female characters' wardrobes seem spot on.

I disagree. I don't think she's frumpy. Keep in mind that she has to cover her bruises, and that it gets chilly in Monterrey. Also, she may not want to show off her body too much as she knows how jealous/violent Perry gets.

NK is doing an amazing job.

Nicole Kidman is outstanding as Celeste. Her Emmy-winning performance tape will come from the therapist scene. But during the that scene, the only thing keeping me from being totally spellbound was my slight distraction from the dress she was wearing. And the coffee shop scene and the chokehold scene, she's wearing really big sweaters. Reese is wearing a cute dress w/ cardigan and Laura Dern is dressed as corporate queen. Jane is great with the no makeup army jacket look. Obviously I'm missing what wardrobe is doing with Celeste.

I wouldn't call that updated 5,000 sqft home "crappy" or "small" but I get your point. Isn't Ed a tech guy?

I actually loved the dress she wore in that therapy dress. But you have a point-- I was also slightly distracted by it. You have to have an amazing figure to pull off a dress like that and I think that conventional wisdom is wrong in thinking that you have to show skin to be beautiful.

FWIW, I don't particularly care for Madeline's wardrobe, though I think it suits her character perfectly. It's too cutesy/conventional.

I think I agree with you. I don't love Madeline's wardrobe but you certainly see why they've dressed her that way.
Back to NK/Celeste: I didn't love the therapy dress and found it too busy (although I think NK has a model's body and could wear anything well), a pp pointed out that Celeste wears long sleeves and high necklines as she's hiding bruises.

He's well-cast as Perry. I don't know why they cast all the other husbands as not so attractive (including the usually cute Adam Scott with the overgrown beard).

Ah! Makes sense. I just assumed the had a TV home. You know like Monica on Friends.

Remarkable how much she can say without saying much. I'm calling a well-deserved Emmy nom for NK.

My favorite of hers so far was when she was watching Perry play with the kids, and her face went from smiling and happy to really pissed and dark within a minute or two. It was really amazing. I'm not a particular fan of hers but I feel like I instantly became one in those few minutes.

I am so glad I am not the only one with this mixed emotion. He is so hot in this role, but a dirtbag at the same time.
