Beyonce is pregnant!

I like her music but only for dancing. I am as uncomfortable as Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie with her male-centered brand of feminism. We all know that she wouldn't have become the media juggernaut she did had she covered her thighs and derriere, like, EVER. And yet she can be so touchingly vulnerable at times, so human. And I don't think I would do much better if I had been performing since toddlerhood and famous from the teen years. What was she taught to do besides arrest the gaze, captivate and allure with her physicality?

This. I think she's not very bright, not a great role model for girls (I have a 5yo AA girl who doesn't really know who she is), and seems to have only a shallow understanding of feminism. I also wonder what she's going to do once she ages out of the skimpy clothes. However, I do think she's a great singer and performer.

What did Madonna do?

I don't think Beyonce is talented at all. I know a lot of people like her but I'm not one of them.

100% accurate. Worked with both on PR needs in the past few years. Beyonce is kind and generous and incredibly appreciative. Solange is crazy but at least in my experience, crazy in a good way. She's very particular and eccentric. Whereas Beyonce gives leeway in how you reach a final goal for her, Solange wants to control every step in the process and is a micromanager. Frequently, her mom would have to tell her to tone it down because it did rub people the wrong way but just like her sister, she is also quite appreciative of those who work for her. I just don't think she knows how to be as kind and gracious. Overall they are a great family though, but just like everyone else, one person is a little nuts.

Past clients are fair game. And this is an anonymous message board. Do you know how many publicists they've both worked with on various projects? I'm probably one out of hundreds and there is no way this could ever come back to haunt me. You should probably take a xanax or call your therapist as you sound unhinged. Your response is entirely unwarranted.

What exactly do you expect from her though? She's an entertainer. Never a rumored drug habit, no "leaked" sex tape, no "oops there's my vagina" snapshots, no revolving door of PR boyfriends, had her kids in wedlock, rarely gives interviews, no twitter beefs, no stories of being bitchy behind the scenes - that's pretty good for this industry.

not unhinged

PR is about trust. It's not about being caught.

+1. Except I don't think she's a great singer either.

I'm the Love/Hater PP. Today I was listening to Partition on the treadmill and felt unnerved by the refrain 'I just wanna be the girl you like, the girl you want.' And yet I remain conflicted. We want our girls to be more than beauties but who is really raising kids to believe that beauty is irrelevant? I think of Beyonce as our American geisha and as such reflective of the culture that produced her. We definitely have an ambivalence about strong women and their looks. Where do we draw the line? My hair is permed. Is that okay? Plenty of women dye their gray away. Is that okay? We all wear makeup and heels at least occasionally. Is that okay? I wear tight jeans and flirt with guys in my gym. Is that okay? My girls know Bey from music in the car, not so much videos. Jay-Z they know only as 'Beyonce's husband.' I can't render an absolute verdict. She's like a Snickers. Most of the time I avoid sugar but every so often, even though it's full of junk and I know it, nothing but a Snickers will do.

NP here. I understand the photos and the symbolism just fine. I have no problem with her releasing the photos or the big news and I can see why the announcement generated a lot of excitement. But I just don't like the photos. They are way too artsy for me and quite honestly, the photos look over-processed and photoshopped. Given all of her resources, it's a bit surprising that this is what she chose to do.

I'm not a white person, but I got it. Not to the depth that the articles are explaining, but I got the visual reference. Which didn't make me like it any more than people who didn't get it. I thought it was unappealing to the eye and just made her seem very pretentious and off putting.

I'm 1339 and I agree with this, too.

She's a diva but she's earned the right to be a diva. The girl has been singing since she was 8 and was only a teenager when she joined Destiny's child. She is a natural and amazing talent - she never would have gotten as far as she had if she wasn't something else.

However....those pictures are tacky, they just are, and the picture of her in her underwear and that veil paired with the more refined wording of their announcement - signed by The Carters...strange.

Thank you for sharing this. It helps explain things a bit and I don't find it strange that Beyonce would take such photos. This girl is not apart of this world, nor generation. Just ahead of her time. I'm not a beyhive groupie. Putting out good energy to her twins.
