Are you going to whip out your dictionary again? |
that wasn't me, but apparently you think an abortion is a "fundamental" right. And you would be at odds with the meaning of the term "fundamental". |
Control over your own body is a right. Abortion falls under that the same as prescription drugs, surgery, weight loss, etc. The government should no more be able to dictate whether you can end a pregnancy than it should be able to tell you if you can take Synthroid. |
You're very welcome. |

This country needs to wake up. We tipped too far left. So the right added more weight to its side.
What did anyone expect? lots of supposedly smart people living in bubbles |
Does this mean you're against single-payer then? You seem to be backing away from it being a "fundamental" right, btw. Did you come to realize what that means? |
I'm a completely different poster. You're interacting with many people on a discussion board, not just one. I'm not backing off of comments I didn't make. |

ya know, this doesn't really bother me all that much
at its heart abortion is the taking of an inconvenient human life of course the majority of women getting abortions are por and/or minorities that can't afford kids and UMC white women who don't want the winery trips to stop |
ANTI CHOICE |
I'm an UMC white woman who had a huge whoops pregnancy when my husband's vasectomy spontaneously failed after over 3 years. We kept the baby and are very happy with the outcome but if the tubal ligation I had during delivery fails and I'm faced with ANOTHER surprise pregnancy? Not so sure I could roll with the punches quite as easily. Stuff like this happens and women have the right to determine whether they are able or willing to add another human life to their plate. It's pregnancy and it's a lifetime of expense and care and worry. It is not something anyone should take lightly nor be forced to take on if their precautions don't work out. A surprise pregnancy can happen to anyone, even you. Birth control fails, condoms break, vasectomies repair themselves, etc. I, speaking as someone who has had one of these surprise pregnancies despite nearly failsafe birth control in place, appreciate that the option is there for people who need it. If you think abortion is wrong, you don't have to get one. But how another woman chooses to handle a pregnancy is her business. Not yours. |
Oh good, so you are on board with taxpayers feeding, clothing, and giving healthcare, etc. to these obviously unwanted poor kids? Good, glad to hear it! |
Amen, from a woman who chose to bear a child (my first) conceived despite using two different forms of birth control. The unplanned pregnancy rate is very high in this country at 45% (https://www.guttmacher.org/fact-sheet/unintended-pregnancy-united-states). I love my kid but I was only able to continue the pregnancy because I had faith in my ability to provide for them together with my strong family-of-origin network. |
Meat is murder. Are you a vegetarian? |
You don't understand single-payer. But that's no surprise. |
