Wow, that's where I'm staying next month. I'd appreciate your thoughts about it. |

I am the PP who stayed there. The hotel is fine. Lobby and common areas are nice and the views are great. The hotel itself is a little worn - the carpet, the beach chairs, etc. It just needs a facelift. The rooms are clean and relatively spacious - especially the suites. We did not eat in many of the restaurants there - got lunch from the pool restaurant a lot. The waiters poolside were friendly. The pool is decent, but gets crowded. At least when we went, I had to go out each morning around 6:30 am to get chairs in a good location. This was at Christmas so it was extra crowded. The beach was clean, but we did not go in the water too much because the current was very strong when we were there. All in all, the hotel is fine. But when writing about the "best" hotel you have ever stayed at, it is certainly not as nice as more upscale resorts like the Four Seasons. |

I'm pretty frugal and don't tend to spend $ on pricey hotels. I was on a business trip to the panhandle of Florida and our client paid for our 2 night stay in the Watercolor Inn in Watercolor. It was really lovely and a very well designed hotel and a real treat for me.
Another best hotel I've stayed in which wasn't too pricey was the Best Western Don Jon inside the Medieval walls in Carcassonne, France. Best Westerns are much nicer in Europe than in the US and the hotel was in a very cool old stone structure in the walled city and our stay there was one of the highlights of my life. This was a pre-kids vacation. And lastly, another hotel that is again not too pricey but just lovely is Marina Cay in the BVIs. The island has just a few rooms and you feel like you have your own private island to yourself. Not high end luxury, but the beds all have mosquito nets and when you leave the french doors open at night you can hear the water on the beach below the room. Can't get better than that! |
Thanks so much! |

The Moorings in Islamorada
The Eden Roc in Miami JW Marriott Cancun Those would qualify as the most luxurious but my favorite hotels were the ones in Tulum where you walked out of your thatched roof hut onto the beach and ate al fresco in the sand. No shoes required. |
Actually we have been with our kids and awesome. Nice to have your own pool to chill, etc. Beach was perfect for them. |
