Did your high school have a student smoking section?

I graduated in 2003 from a North Jersey public HS. Kids congregated outside to smoke by one of the back doors, near the bleachers and football field.

Graduated in 1988 in Arizona and yes my school had a smoking section.

Yes mine did, CT 1989. Courtyard outside the cafeteria. The teachers had a smoking teachers lounge too! I believe both were removed the year after.

My kids went to same school, since converted to a middle school. I showed them where the smoking pit had been-they were aghast LOL. I never smoked btw they were just suprised it existed.

I graduated in 1990 from one of the biggest high school's in NY (800 kids in our graduating class) & yes, there was a student smoking section in the courtyard.

Early 80s in the south, yes. However I think they abolished around 83.
We had a cigarette vending machine, candy, cookies, crackers, cokes.

The worst we had to fear was a paddling or a fistfight. I miss the 80s!

Class of 1984, and I don't remember because I wasn't a smoker. Most kids smoked outside the auto and wood shop. I remember teachers smoked in their lounge and in classrooms after school.

Yes, 1992-1996, we had a "smocking pit". It was a set of benches outside that you were allowed to smoke in. Nothing inside.

NCS 1990. Nothing inside so we smoked in the Bishop’s Garden. But my sister graduated in the early ‘80s and they smoked in the senior room then.

I'm in ND. A few years back an 18 yo from a nearby rural town was seen smoking outside the café in her town. She was 18 but she was banned from attending prom under the state school league no EC activities for 6 weeks. I recall her parents filed suit in district court, don't recall how it turned out, arguing that was for ongoing activities like band and sports, not prom.

Pacific NW, mid 90s. No official smoking section, cigarettes were technically banned on campus, but students often gathered in the parking lot. Most teachers looked the other way unless the smoking was combined with another offense like cutting class. There were one or two teachers, though, who would write everyone up, every time. Word spread fast when those teachers were spotted walking toward the parking lot.
