Yes! Graduated in 1987 from Bowie High School in MD. It was called "the Breezeway" and it was an indoor glass-enclosed hallway. Not that the windows were open or anything. You'd go out of your way to avoid it. It was a huge cloud of cigarette smoke inhabited by what were called "the freaks" back then.
Good memories. |

Bwahahahaha! No, no smoking section for students at my high school. Graduated in 1992. |

Too funny!
I graduated in 1985 from a private school in another area of Virginia; by 1981 or so the smoking section for the high school (near the band room) was gone. Except for the teachers lounge--every time a teacher would go in and out clouds of smoke would billow out. |

Graduated 1975. Unofficial smoking area for students outside the band room back door exit. Students could smoke there if they had a study hall period. No one ever questioned or stopped them.
Teachers smoked in the teachers lounge in high school. However, in Junior High, both the principal and the social studies teacher smoked cigars where ever and when ever. The band director smoked in his office only. |
In Dazed and Confused they were smoking in the girls bathroom. Forgot about that one until just now. |
| Yes, my class graduated in 1986. I was at a New England public school and smoking was allowed anywhere outside the building. Smoking dope was not allowed and we had 3 narcotics cops on site. They were supposed to be undercover and look like teachers but we all knew who they were and usually said hi to them. |
| Unofficial student smoking area. Juuuuust off school grounds. Graduated 1995. |
| Yes, kids smoked in the quad. Graduated in 93. |
| Smoking patio. Graduated in 1987. |

DH graduated in 1988 from a high school in suburban Philadelphia, and they did have a designated student smoking section.
I graduated in 1991 from a school in the USSR and we couldn't even imagine being officially allowed to smoke on the school premises. Very few kids smoked at all and those who did had to hide behind the garages. After the USSR collapsed and the 'free market economy' appeared kids went wild, not only smoking but drinking in the open on the streets, but that's another story. |

I started high school in the fall of 1989 and graduated in 1993.
There was no smoking section. I am not sure if the teachers had a smoking section. I never saw a teacher smoke. |
I'm the poster that posted the above. My high school was a public high school in Orange county, CA |
| I graduated in 97. We had a smoking areas (teachers and students were separate) but I think they eliminated the student smoking area my junior year. If you were under 18, you had to have a signed permission slip, but 18+ didn't need permission. |
| Not high school, but college, at William and Mary. There was a smoking section in the library. Graduated in 1994. |
