Styden smoking area just outside of the cafeteria but we also had "smoking bathrooms" where kids smoked (maybe not just cigarrettes).

Sorry, the above was early 80s, affluent NJ suburb.
The very same halls that Governor Christie walked back in the day. Pretty sure he was never a smoker. |
Yes, early 80's in Pa. There was a smoking lounge, kidyou not, in the late 70's when my sister was in school but by the early 80's it was outside. HoweVer, some of us smoked in the girls room anyway. I remember receptionists, etc., smoking right at their desks at my first job! |

| Yes, the "smoke pit." 1998-2003 in Vancouver, Canada. Students only. |
| Oh yeah, right across from the cafeteria. Students only. Not sure where the teachers smoked - probably in their lounge. This was in the center of the country, early-mid 1980s. |
| Late 80s, we were allowed to smoke in the parking lot outside the cafeteria. When I got to college they had just banned smoking in the library the year before. It's so weird to realize how much public smoking has changed over the past 30 years. A few years ago I was in a movie theatre and someone lit up a cigarette, everyone else was shocked and appalled, but as a teen that was totally normal. |
| I graduated from high school in 1990. When I moved to the area in 8th grade, I was amazed that there was a smoking area at the high school. I think it must have been abolished around that year because I think by the time I got there in 10th it was gone. |
| Graduated Severna Park HS in 1975. There was a smoking courtyard that anybody could smoke in, regardless of class. |
| Yes - class of '03. There was a designated area outside by the parking lot. |
| Ah yes, the Toking Lounge....those were the days. |
Another NJ in 1989, and yes, we did. Gradually it was cut back. At one point juniors and seniors could smoke in the school building in a smoking lounge. By my senior year, this was moved to an outside area (behind the tennis courts and out of sight). |
| Yes, 86-90 in New England. It was outside. |
| No. Early 80s. I went to an all girls' Catholic high school. So no. No smoking area. You have got to be kidding! We wore uniforms... |

I graduated high school in 1993 in Orange county, CA
There was definitely no smoking section for students. If there was one for teachers/staff, I was not aware of it. |
